Helen Creighton

This was all before I became involved at all.

And she got, uh, she got Dr. Helen Creighton on her side.

She's the folklorist from Dartmouth, eh?

Yes, yes.

Well, she, uh, she got on side as well, and, uh, somehow along the way somebody mentioned, uh, Steve didn't want to, uh, delve into coal mining songs and that sort of thing.

He didn't know much about it, and he really just wanted to get them together to sing hymns.

And so, uh, talking to him, he also knew me, and, uh, Helen Creighton knew me as well.

Um, they decided to approach me to take this group to Expo 67, but to teach them a few songs about mining.
