Heba Gowayed

As you might imagine, it wasn't an easy one to record, but it felt necessary after I realized that we all experience ambiguous loss in one way or another.

Today, I'm talking to Heba Gowayed.

She's a writer and associate professor of sociology at CUNY Hunter College in the Graduate Center.

Her research and writing centers the lives of people who migrate across borders and the unequal and often violent institutions they face.

So hi, Eli.

Thank you for having me on your, uh, podcast.

Um, my name is Heba Gowayed.

I am an associate professor of sociology at, uh, CUNY and Hunter in the Graduate Center, a proud public educator where I teach, um, you know, a campus full of immigrants, full of people from similar backgrounds to my own.
