Heavenly Mother

I go back to what President Oaks and President Nelson and others have taught.

It's not that we know traits or dispositions or things like that about eternal gender, but that the theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, what God has revealed through prophets, is that in order to achieve exaltation, to become as our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, it takes the union of a perfected man and a perfected woman.

If that's necessary for exaltation, We can't play loose and fast with gender.

That's an eternal concept that is needed for our eternal destiny.

There was a study that was looking at like, because you have this narrative, are Latter-day Saint beliefs harmful? And there was a couple of researchers that had laid out these beliefs.

And when you identify Latter-day Saint beliefs broadly, what does that mean? What is doctrine and what is not? And what it had showed was that the Latter-day Saint beliefs increased depression, anxiety.

But when you started to tease out those beliefs, like we have a heavenly mother and a heavenly father, right? This sort of gender essentialism.

versus because I experienced same-sex attraction, I must have done something wrong in the premortal existence,

So in, in our church in the Wimscog, we, they had the same like similar, but it was called new song books.

And in the new song books, it would talk about like, You know, Ahn Sung Hong and Heavenly Mother and like the 144,000.

And so they changed.

Like one day they were like, okay, everyone give back your books.

And I was wondering, like, why would they do that? Like, why would they change the lyrics? Why would they move the songs into different pages? And I noticed that there was a song that said the 144,000 names are written on mother's heart.

Right.

So these are the ones that Heavenly Mother cares about.

But now the new song said all of the names of God's children are written on Heavenly Mother's heart.

LDS theology teaches what's called the premortal life or pre-existence.

So that means before you were born, according to Mormon theology, you existed as a spirit child of Heavenly Father and a Heavenly Mother too, by the way, in a realm called the premortal spirit world.

You had real experiences there, real relationships there, and you made real choices there.

You participated in what LDS theology calls the Grand Council, where Heavenly Father presented His plan of salvation, Jesus volunteered to be the Savior, Satan offered a competing plan and was cast out, and the rest of the spirit children agreed to come to earth to receive physical bodies and to prove themselves.

But they're also one in a similar way, and perhaps even more intimate way, to the oneness of the Godhead.

Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother is the only way we can think of it.

Heavenly Father versus Heavenly Mother just makes no sense.

Now, in so many current discussions and debates, we hear a kind of comparing and competing, even when we're talking in the church about the Godhead.

Don't we need something? I heard someone say the other day, don't we need something akin to affirmative action when it comes to our heavenly parents? We talk so much about Heavenly Father, can't we talk more about Heavenly Mother, and yet the church encourages us not to think about, not to talk about things we don't really know very much about.

And perhaps the simplest reason we don't talk more about Heavenly Mother separately is that she's not separate.

They are one.

They are one God, made up of a heavenly mother and a heavenly father.

There's this thing in the Mormon church where it's like they always used to preach like they believe in this preexistence.

Like you all existed with your Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother before you came to this earth.

And you chose your problems.

You chose what you're going to be struggling with.

Yes.

I was talking with some of my grandchildren recently about our bodies, and isn't it so wonderful that we have bodies? And then one of them said, well, Grandma, what do you think Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother will say when you get back to heaven about your body? And I said, I thought about that for a minute.

And I said, well, you know, I think they will probably ask us, did you enjoy your body? Did you have a good experience in that body that we gave to you? And I believe that's true.

I think we'll be accountable.

I've been singing, so excuse me, I've got to take another drink.

First up, we're examining the evolution of the Godhead.

Second, the introduction of the Heavenly Mother.

Third, a highly controversial rethinking of the virgin birth.

Fourth, we'll do an investigative dive into alterations to sacred texts.

Is God fixed and absolute, or is he constantly learning, growing, and increasing in power? It's a fundamental philosophical divide that honestly continues to echo through the leadership's history right up to this day.

Which brings us to a really fascinating logical consequence.

If God is an exalted man who lived a mortal life, and if the absolute highest levels of progression require family and marriage, does he have a wife? That leads us right into our next segment, the Heavenly Mother, an eternal counterpart.

This explores the established doctrine that God the Father has an eternal partner, a mother in heaven.

So we can become what he is.

They also believe that Jesus Christ is the spirit brother of Lucifer, and therefore our elder brother as well, because Father God and Heavenly Mother, they had all kinds of heavenly offspring, and Lucifer was one of them, and so was Jesus Christ.

And we also in the spirit world are offspring of Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, and of course we come to earth to get our bodies in their view.

Their whole view of redemption is completely different.

They have three levels of heaven, a telestial, terrestrial, and celestial kingdom, and then three further levels of the celestial kingdom.

Yeah.

We're all spirit brothers, right, and sisters of Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother.

And so what happened is God was like, "Hey, like we wanna go down on earth.

Like, let's, let's make a plan.

We don't remember the premortal existence.

We're going through this life either believing, having to choose, all the things, so-

And Heavenly Mother still exists?

Yes.
