Heathers: The Musical

I'm also thinking about some of their former leading ladies, Maya Boyd, who is now on the threshold of an exciting film career.

I'm thinking about Lorna Courtney, who has just been off Broadway in Heathers, who has been workshopping and developing The Greatest Showman in a principal role with Disney.

Really brilliantly talented young performers, and also as a West End musical theater fan and somebody from the London theater community, it has been joyous to see so many British performers have the opportunity to perform on Broadway, many of them making their debuts by reprising roles that they played here in the Broadway run of & Juliet.

Of course, a conversation about the show's legacy also means looking into the future.

So they were playing a lot of songs from, uh, the Beetlejuice musical, which is not that good.

Um, [laughs] and they were playing songs from like The Outsiders and the Shrek musical and Mean Girls Musical and Heathers.

And all of those are fine, but I would prefer [laughs] they skewed the other end of the spectrum a little bit more, but we still had fun.

Are those new musicals like iconic enough to anybody who would wanna go to this club in the first place to like sing and-

The To The Owner exhibition, Alana Hunt's first institutional solo show in Sydney, is on today during gallery hours.

Heathers: The Musical is on tonight at the Roslyn Packer Theatre in Walsh Bay if you want big songs and high school drama on the harbor foreshore.

Kiwi indie act Varna is playing the Lansdowne in Chippendale from around 7pm, and Seahaven are at the Burdekin Hotel in Darlinghurst for the alt-music crowd.

Over in Parramatta, there's a free evening event as part of Parramatta's Lit Festival, a book launch and panel on leadership and AI at Western Sydney University's Parramatta South Campus from 5.30pm. At East Gardens Library from 1pm to 3pm, there's a community conversations forum on what care looks like in the last 12 months of life, hosted by South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Bayside Council with light refreshments.

A cool, cloudy, cuddle-up-with-a-cardigan day heading to 19 in town, 18 out west, 18 at Bondi, a two-car crash on Barrenjoey Road at Avalon Beach affecting southbound traffic, trains and metro running normally, which is officially the best sentence I get to say this month.

It was, no, I was just gonna say it was a thing when we were, had the international creatives on Heathers at the start of the rehearsal process.

They told us that.

In the face of that, what choice does Six have but to close? Well, they have another choice as well.

Because for some time now, many people have been saying that if Six ever did close on Broadway, it would be perfect for an off-Broadway transfer to somewhere like New World Stages, the same venue where Heathers recently announced they would end their run, where the 25th annual Putnam Spelling Bee is also playing, a venue very much capable of staging musical productions of this exact scale, but containing auditoria of slightly more forgiving capacities.

And you may think the notion of a show moving from Broadway to off-Broadway is an unusual one, but it isn't.

It's just something that we haven't necessarily seen in a while.

I mean, one of them, when I got the press release, it warned that there's full frontal nudity in it.

I'm like, what? At the Upper Palace? You don't get that in Heathers.

Well, you nearly get that in Heathers, actually.

Yeah, very nice.

So before the show's even started performances, you've released some of the songs already as an EP.
