But I, what I loved about the movie and it, the, the title of my review for the movie is In Heartstopper Forever, Love Is a Choice, and I think that that-

Yeah

... is something that we have culturally, I think, the stories that we tell are about soulmates and, and-

Yeah

... destinies, and it's almost like everything will always work.

And I think what Heartstopper Forever does in a different way than the comic for me is it really shows the crushing reality of growing up where you realize that that's not, like that is not actually how the world works, that more people will grow distant and break up than will stay together and get closer.

And I think that the way that Charlie and Nick begin to reframe their relationship, I feel like it comes on stronger for me because I feel like when I, when I was reading the, the comic, I think that Kit Connor's performance does so much for Nick as a character-

The teenage lead characters, Nick and Charlie, are friends at the fictional Truam Grammar School who develop a romantic relationship.

Alice Oseman adapted her own books into the Emmy award winning TV series and has ended the stories with a Netflix movie, Heartstopper Forever, coinciding with the sixth and final book.

The film picks up where season three of the TV series left off, and we find Nick and Charlie facing a fateful decision that could change their relationship forever.

The BBC's Kirsty Wark spoke to Alice Oseman about why Heartstopper has resonated with people around the world.

I was really, really surprised, actually, because that wasn't something that I thought was unusual, maybe.

Maybe I just wasn't sort of clocked in to what the TV landscape was like at that time.

So Heartstopper Forever is coming out just weeks after you've published volume six of your book series.

Both are billed as a final time.

Moving over to the feature film slate, the strategy is equally aggressive.

We have the emotional finale for a massive cultural phenomenon with Heartstopper Forever premiering on July 17th.

Fans are going to lose their minds over that.

Oh, absolutely.

Oh, I know what you're going to say.

I'm talking about Heartstopper Forever.

Right.

And you probably know this actually just released a couple of months ago on July 17th, 2026.

Those pipelines do not fail.

They operate on industrial schedules.

Also, Heartstopper forever because it already came out.

Makes sense.

And then yesterday, I hadn't made notes past where we got up to in recording last week.

So I had to watch Heartstopper forever.

But just from after the breakup and make notes about it.

And tired.
