HD-2D

So they did develop the content, they just saved it for DLC.

And finally, I'm sure we'll talk about this in a coming episode, probably next week, Final Fantasy Resonance, the upcoming HD 2D Final Fantasy game.

They reviewed this game over at Famitsu, and they gave it a 9999, which is fantastic.

So you have four nines across the board.

Um, so, uh, and, and then a couple of years ago, with the release of the Pixel Remaster on modern consoles, where they took, you know, the first six games and, uh, kind of, uh, up-resed them, gave them some quality of life.

Uh, in some cases, in Final Fantasy VI's case, you know, they made one very important scene in that awesome Square Enix HD-2D, um, art style that they've perfected.

Uh, you know, so be- be- you know, because of that, I went through and played every Final Fantasy from I to XVI at that point, uh, with the exception of XI and XIV, uh, which are MMOs, uh, that I won't be covering.

I have not played either of those games.

It is a roguelike game where you play as a zombie named Davey who eats a phoenix egg, gains abilities, and is trying to save a frozen girl in a freezer that he fell in love with.

Final Fantasy Resonance is the latest Final Fantasy game, the first HD 2D Final Fantasy game, and takes a lot of inspiration from BraveXVS, the now canceled mobile game that ended service a year ago now or something like that.

Switch Sports Resort as well.

It's 12 more exports back on Wuhu Island, and you can fly free roam, you can skateboard free roam, and you can jet ski free roam.

A lot of platformers do that.

And now we have the HD 2D thing.

And so I think it's reflecting that well.

And art direction is, I find I like the art direction.

Ah, yes, finally, finally, finally.

Pretty intrigued and mildly excited for it because first you would have thought this wouldn't be the first HD 2D Final Fantasy game, but it is.

That is crazy.

Because they've been doing HD 2D for everything else.

they used a tiny bit of HD2D in the Final Fantasy 6 pixel remaster but Dragon Quest is the one being and like Octopath and like the original Team Asano games and then Dragon Quest has been getting it and then like Star Ocean Second Story R or whatever got that but not Final Fantasy

And then October 22nd, another big one, Final Fantasy Resonance, the first Final Fantasy in HD 2D, apparently basically based off of the mobile game in a lot of ways, kind of like Octopath Traveler Zero.

Bench has been hyping this one up so much.

uh i usually really love hd 2d games the thing is though i like them because they weren't final fantasy so like i'm out because i'm just like i don't i don't like final fantasy in general but i do like hd 2d so if it gets high enough reviews maybe i'll check it out

but i hope that this game does well for the sole purpose because i don't know if they said that they want to take this formula and put it on the more classic final fantasies hope it does well just for that yeah
