No.

And when you start thinking about that, and I start thinking about this team and what we continue to say about this team year over year, continuity, continuity, 12 of the 14 guys, or 11 guys are back from last year after Haywood Highsmith got waived.
Gil McGregorHOST
39:56
So it's a lot similar, but the difference, two of the three, Coapita as he works to ingratiate himself with the roster, the rotation, and become a guy who's ready to contribute on that level at the NBA, which I have no doubt in my mind that he will get there.

But the pieces that are new are Luke Kennard, and Miles Bridges, and in some ways, Jalen Green.

And then another minor move the Suns made that made us all confused about what the Suns were doing.
speaker_0HOST
9:31
They waived Haywood Highsmith and then re-signed Haywood Highsmith.
speaker_0HOST
9:34
Overall, this is another good signing, another great death piece for the Suns to have in the regular season.
speaker_0HOST
9:40
If there's any injuries to the wings on this team, Haywood Highsmith is a good, reliable vet for the Suns to have out there.
speaker_0HOST
9:46
Am I going to get mad throughout the season if Haywood Highsmith gets minutes over Kobe Pete? Most likely.
speaker_0HOST
9:51
But I do understand why the Suns re-signed him.
speaker_0HOST
9:53
He's just a great vet to have out there.
speaker_0HOST
9:56
He's a great defender and has shown that he can hit threes consistently and has shown throughout his career that he can play that fourth spot.
speaker_0HOST
9:37
Like he could have easily blocked it, but Coepeat was able to get the ball off the glass and score so those are the moments where i'm just like i can definitely see koa pete playing rotation minutes for this team and the suns definitely have the players out there to still have some great spacing out there like if koa pete's gonna play maybe mawash can be at the five do i breathe can be at the five stuff like that like that can really help koa pete still get rotation minutes out there Is it a guarantee? Probably not.
speaker_0HOST
10:05
It definitely feels like the Suns will probably prefer to play Haywood Highsmith or Rashir Fleming over Kobe for now.
speaker_0HOST
10:11
But I feel like Kobe so far has shown that he does have the potential to play rotation minutes for the Suns team because the Suns really need a guy that can just grab the ball and just be an automatic paint touch and be able to pass it out to anybody on the perimeter to create easy shots for others.
speaker_0HOST
10:27
And that's what Kobe has done so far in preseason.
speaker_0HOST
10:30
He's had moments where he gets the ball from an inbound play and just dribbles the ball up the court and passes it to the next guy as soon as he touches the paint.
speaker_0HOST
10:37
So I can definitely see a world where our boy Cole Pete does get rotation minutes, but I wouldn't say it's a guarantee.
speaker_0HOST
10:42
It definitely feels like still Fleming and Haywood Highsmith would get those minutes over him.
speaker_0HOST
10:47
But I would love it if Cole Pete gets those minutes because guys, I have been drinking the Coa Pete Kool-Aid.
speaker_0HOST
11:13
He also had a great block in this game.
speaker_0HOST
11:15
He got a steal from the Spurs point guard and passed it out to Haywood Highsmith, who hit a three.
speaker_0HOST
11:21
Just overall, a great game from Malawach.
speaker_0HOST
11:22
I was really impressed.

7 MINS LATER

speaker_0HOST
18:38
But I just really appreciate that the Suns are letting him handle the ball.
speaker_0HOST
18:42
And I did notice that in this game, Koa Pete really didn't play until like the last six minutes.
speaker_0HOST
18:46
So I don't know if the Suns are going to be playing Haywood Highsmith over Koa Pete.
speaker_0HOST
18:50
Who knows? Because the Suns still have to waive one of these players to get a full roster, basically.
speaker_0HOST
6:11
The Suns also waived CJ Huntley to convert Duopree's training camp deal to a two-way.
speaker_0HOST
6:15
And they waived Haywood Highsmith to keep the roster at 14.
speaker_0HOST
6:19
I would have liked the Suns to keep Highsmith.
speaker_0HOST
6:21
But it looks like they wanted to save some money by keeping the roster at 14 and for future trades.
speaker_0HOST
6:25
And I wouldn't be surprised if the Suns front office also waived him.
speaker_0HOST
6:29
Just so odd doesn't play a veteran over the young guys like Fleming and Coapete.
speaker_0HOST
6:33
CJ Hundley is another guy that I really want the Suns to keep on the Valley Suns as well just because I really do think just because I do think that he has the potential to be a good third string center out there and I really enjoy his infectious energy out there whenever I was watching the Valley Suns I was always entertained by how energetic he was out there he was always rim running he was always catching lobs and he was just a really fun player to watch so hopefully he's still going to be on the Valley Suns and honestly I don't know how to feel about the Suns waving Haywood Highsmith to keep the roster at four like i know by the end of the day the nba is a business so the biggest reason the suns so i know the biggest reason the suns aren't keeping haywood highsmith on this roster is just so they could save some money but overall i don't hate the move because it does force jordan odd to give minutes to koa pete and fleming over the regular season instead of giving it to a vet but i also would have liked haywood highsmith on this roster just because it does give this team a good veteran to have who can play that 3 and d role if they really needed it during the regular season because as we all know after last season injuries can really take a toll on a team so haywood highsmith would have been a good veteran 3 and d wing to have on this team but overall i do understand this is more of a saving money type of move but i also like the move because it does force a jordan odd to play the young guys so i really don't know how to feel about this move so go ahead guys comment down below what you think about this move yeah so that's all the moves the suns have made over the last couple of days But the Suns aren't the only team that made moves over the last couple of days.
speaker_0HOST
8:03
There's been a good amount of young players that got waived by their team that are still eligible to sign two-way contracts.
speaker_0HOST
16:48
Because in this one, Miles Bridges was out there playing with Duat Breit as a center.
speaker_0HOST
16:51
So I can definitely see a world where oh so would be a better option than do i breathe because so far do i breathe has shown that the only thing he can really do out there is hit threes and attack the paint here and there yeah guys so gamba reported that the suns are going to give boy the 14th roster spot so most likely what that means is that haywood highsmith is going to be the guy that gets waved and then do i breathe is going to be converted to a two-way contract and I can't lie, that's a pretty good decision.
speaker_0HOST
17:19
So far, Highsmith hasn't really done anything crazy in these preseason games for me to really want him to stay.
speaker_0HOST
17:25
And Highsmith is a good veteran wing to have during the regular season.
speaker_0HOST
20:30
Like, even though the Suns lost the game in the second half, the Suns still had a lot of solid talent out there.
speaker_0HOST
20:37
They had Koa P, Jamari Buwe, Haywood Highsmith, Uwabri.
speaker_0HOST
20:41
Like, all solid guys that would play rotation minutes for other teams.
speaker_0HOST
20:45
But...
speaker_0HOST
14:19
So that's a big reason why I just think the Suns are a guaranteed playoff team.
speaker_0HOST
14:23
Like, who are these other teams going to play when they have, like, multiple injuries on their team? Like, the Suns, they could throw in a Haywood Highsmith, a Ryan Dunn, a Cole Pete.
speaker_0HOST
14:32
Like, all guys that should be getting rotation minutes on other teams.
speaker_0HOST
14:35
But for the Suns, they're just not guaranteed those minutes.
speaker_0HOST
4:05
So basically, the Suns are going to have to waive one of these guys soon.
speaker_0HOST
4:09
And if it's going to be any of the guys on this roster right now that the Suns are going to have to waive, it has to be either Bue, Haywood Highsmith, one of those two guys.
speaker_0HOST
4:17
And honestly, for me, I would not want to waive either one of those guys.
speaker_0HOST
4:21
Haywood Highsmith is a good, reliable veteran 3 and D wing.
speaker_0HOST
4:26
Even though Bue felt off to end that second half of the season, he's a really good third string point guard that the Suns can use anytime if they have any injuries in the guard position.
speaker_0HOST
4:35
But if I had one player that I think the Suns would waive out of those two players, I would most likely say Bue just because the Suns do have Pat Spencer on a two-way contract.
speaker_0HOST
7:46
Like, this definitely has, like, a trickle-down effect where, like, our wings are gonna get some playing time out there.
speaker_0HOST
7:51
But even though I mentioned all those three young wings on her team to play small ball center, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Jorah not does another Haywood Highsmith small ball lineup out there.
speaker_0HOST
8:01
But honestly, if the Suns do put like a Fleming as a small ball center, it wouldn't be too bad because Fleming does have the size.
speaker_0HOST
8:08
Like he's really not that undersized compared to like other backup fives around the league.
