Hayley Scrivenor

Welcome again, dearest listeners, to our mentoring series with award-winning author and friend of the pod, Hayley Scrivenor.

I'm your host, Fiona Taylor, and we're back with our final episode in this very special series.

Welcome back, Hayley.

Thanks for having me back.

Now, this is your third time here, so our regular listeners probably feel like they know you pretty well already.

But for anyone joining our mentoring series for the first time or anyone who somehow doesn't even know who you are, how, I don't know, give us the quick Hayley Scrivenor introduction.

Not everyone's world works like yours, Fiona, where, you know, Hayley Scrivenor comes up a lot, I feel.

So my name is Hayley Scrivenor.

This is part two of our conversation with Hayley Scrivenor.

We hope you enjoy it.

The Kill City podcast acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands we're on.

How are you today?

I'm very well thanks Lee and I'm super excited because today we're joined by the awesome Hayley Scrivenor.

We are indeed.

Hi, Hayley.

So, you know, I kind of hope to keep writing complex queer characters because I think I'm sort of, I enjoy it too much to stop at this point.

But also, yeah, I'm aware that you know, I don't hold it against anybody who just wants to read Heartstopper and wants to read just like, you know, like a happy, you know, happy story.

And that is not what you're getting when you open a Hayley Scrivenor book.

Like you are getting something that will make you feel and will make you, that certainly hopes to offer you characters that I have really lived with and kind of try to show in the fullness of their humanity.
