Hawkman

yearbookToday we have Elena Huffman as Skyped in Dinah Lance, AKA Black Canary.

We have Brit Irvin as Courtney Whitmore, AKA Stargirl, and Michael Shanks in his last ex- appearance as Carter Hall, AKA Hawkman.

Uh, we also have Michael Hogan returning as General Slade Wilson, AKA Deathstroke, kinda.

Uh, we also have Laurie Trellio, uh, in her first of three appearances as Lieutenant Trotter, and Anne Marie DeLuce as TV reporter.

And then Clark symbolically ...

Courtney Whitmore studying abroad.

Carter Hall on sabbatical.

And Clark Kent?

If you think about it, it's kind of like, um, the Ultimate comics or the Absolute comics in that in those worlds you're kind of keep waiting for people to show up.

Like, oh, I wonder what, what Hawkman's gonna be like in Absolute, you know, that kind of thing.

So this is like, oh, waiting for this fairy tale to show up.

What's the twist gonna be on this one? So this-

[laughs]

Next one here, though, is Geoff Johns.

Future Flash and JSA scribe Johns hit the comic book scene in 1999 with Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. number zero, co-written with future Hawkman collaborator James Robinson.

A precursor to his work on JSA, Johns displayed his affection for and knowledge of classic DC characters through the plucky new star-spangled Kid and S.T.R.I.P.E., the classic Kid sidekick Stripesy now donning a robotic suit of armor.

Do we have a general sense of what we like about characters who have big feathery wings? There's all kinds of ways to amp them up or make them scary.

But Daniel, do you have thoughts about like Angel versus Hawkman in your comics? Do you enjoy this power set?

I do.

Hawkman confuses me because I don't really understand what the crack is with him being like an alien or a pharaoh or whatever.

Like, we're just going to gloss over that.

And he's just the man with wings and a hammer.

You have the winged character for sort of graceful movement.

They're much more maneuverable than someone like Cannonball should be.

No.

And the Hawkman, what about Hawkman? Remember he became a hawk God after Zero Hour?

Hawkman's so convoluted, he can't even...

I don't even know what, like what's good, what's bad, what's...

Just a mess.

Uh-

I don't know what they were thinking with Hawkman.

I don't know what they were thinking.

He was fantastic in that.

that.He played Hawkman in Black Adam.

He has been building this rock solid, incredibly diverse resume for years.

He really is an actor who has consistently elevated every project he is in, often working as a highly effective supporting player or ensemble member.
