They also greenlit an $11,200 purchase from Frontline Ag Solutions for a new Beaver Creek Park brush cutter.

For infrastructure, the board approved rural special improvement districts for county streetlights, maintenance, and sanitary sewers.

They also advanced the North Havre Water Project by approving both an anti-displacement plan and a block grant application certification.

Finally, the commission approved a $2,200 firewall update for courthouse computers.

The Havre High Blue Ponies golf team finished their busy week Friday capping off a third meet in four days competing in the Sydney Invite.

Here are the individual scores from their rounds.

Starting with the boys, Evan Alicich shot an 87, Jasper Alicich shot a 92, Chidaya Antonich finished with a 95, and both Braxton Hughes and Coyle Redding shot a 105.

The Stage 1 lifting of the fire restrictions are within the exterior boundaries of the Rocky Boy Reservation.

Havre Public Schools is officially looking for a new member to join its Board of Trustees following the recent resignation of Board Member Timothy Shealy.

The school district is requesting applications to fill the vacancy by appointment.

The chosen individual will serve on the board until the next regular school election takes place.

To qualify, candidates must be registered voters who reside within the Havre Public School District.

Applicants are also required to have been residents of the school district for at least one full year preceding the appointment.

Those interested in applying must submit a letter of interest that includes their name, address, contact information, and a personal statement outlining why they want to serve on the school board.

Phase 1 of the restoration of the Chinook City Pool has been completed.

At Thursday's Hill County Commission meeting, the commissioners selected former commissioners and former City of Havre Mayor Doug Carriker to fill the open District 2 vacancy.

Last Friday, September 4th, the commission interviewed former Commissioner Mark Peterson and former Hill County Sanitarian and Planner Clay Vincent besides Carriker for the position.

The District 2 seat became available when former Commissioner Sherry Williams resigned earlier this summer.

Carriker served as a Hill County Commissioner for 10 years from 1997 until 2007 and then served as Mayor of Havre from 2022 until 2025.

He will finish Williams' term through December 31st of 2028.

Caleb Rock of Haver, Carter Rayburn of Chinook, and Xavier Young of Harlem are among 64 Montana students selected for Montana State University's 11th class of Hillman Scholars.

Today, Public Works Director for the City of Havre, Trevor Mork, talks residential street sweeping updates, as well as the annual fall community cleanup in partnership with the Havre City of Commerce and what the timeline looks like for that event.

Residential sweeping will continue and it'll be over in the area on the eastern side of the city by Lions and Eagles Park and kind of working its way westward, continuing the areas of Pepin and Patterson Park throughout the week.

There is a correction I want to make note of on the posted schedule where there was sweeping scheduled for Monday, September 7th.

Lights and Skylights Rodeo will saddle up for their fall season opener in Cody, Wyoming, this Friday and Saturday.

Havre High Football opened their season with back-to-back home games at Blue Pony Stadium.

The Blue Ponies are O and two with losses to Whitefish and Billings Central.

However, it hasn't all been bad for Havre Football.

Cale Leeds has shined on defense to start the year with an interception in each game, including one he took to the house for six against the Billings Central Rams.

Havre Head Coach Jake Eldred spoke to his senior's early performance and leadership.

I think he's been doing a great job of just doing what he's supposed to do, executing his responsibilities.

You know, he's, he's obviously a senior leader for us that, that helps get guys in the right coverage, and, and he brings a good presence to the defense as well with being calm and understanding what he's supposed to do, and he goes out and does his job.
