Hatim Al-Asam

He says, work for the protection of Jahannam, the fire of hell, the proportion of how badly you want to be protected.

And the next statement and advice that the Prophet ﷺ, he, sorry not Prophet ﷺ, the next statement that Imam Ghazali, may Allah be pleased with him, he shares, is the advices of a man by the name of Hatim al-Assam.

Hatim al-Assam, these advices are pure, man.

They're so nice.

They're so deep.

Hatim al-Assam, he's known as Hatim, the one who's deaf.

So naturally you think, if he was known as the one who's deaf, then he must have been deaf.

He was not deaf.

كَانَ ذَلِكَ This is a sign of what? مِمَّكَالِمِ الْأَخْلَقِ It's a sign of a person's what? Good etiquette.

They said Hatim al-Assam.

He was given that name because a woman came to him one time and she passed wind while she was asking him a question.

And then he pretended after that day onwards that he couldn't hear anything.

So they gave him the name what? Hatim al-Assam.

So you don't pick on every mistake a person does.

Especially marriages, my brothers and sisters.
