All of that was last week, and, uh, that's available online.

Tonight's discussion is tidbits on Rosh Hashanah, so it's nothing in particular but, im yirtze Hashem, a nice collage like we had a while ago, tidbits on the Haggadah before Pesach.

So here we go.

We're gonna do our best.

You take a vow when it's a time of tzarah.

And when you hear Rosh Hashanah described as an es tzarah, for anyone that has tasted from the fruits of the Baal Shem Tov and Hasidus, this doesn't sound right.

Rosh Hashanah is an es tzarah? Rosh Hashanah is a Yom Tov? Doesn't it say in, in, in Nehemia, the pasuk we spoke about last week, "Eat mashmanim, drink sweet drinks because today is a day achdas Hashem hi me'uzchem, the joy of Hashem is your strength.

V'al teheye tzeivu, don't be, don't be sad on Rosh Hashanah.

As we're getting closer to Yom Kippur, we're doing Teshuvah, we're trying to get close to HaKadosh Baruch Hu, we're trying to get close to Hashem, I saw a cool idea in the Hida, which explains a little bit how the Teshuvah process works.

Now we've all heard the famous idea that right now in this time period, we have to do Teshuvah.

We have to repent in order to clean away all the sins that we did.

It says as follows.

It says the pasuk, im tashuv ad shaday tibaneh.

If you return to God, here Hashem is referred to as Shaddai, if you return to God, you're going to be rebuilt, it's going to be good, things are going to get built up again.

And sins will be distanced from your tent.

So if you do Teshuvah, so this Pasuk says, commenting on this, this Pasuk is kind of like, you know, a real base for this idea.

We're talking about His mitzvah.

What is Hashem's mitzvah? Tzedakah, charity.

Why is this Hashem's mitzvah? Why isn't another mitzvah Hashem's mitzvah? Because the way charity works is if we give charity and we have compassion over those who need charity, then Hashem sees this compassion and Hashem responds to our act with compassion.

a reaction where He gives us tremendous flow of blessing.

As we said in yesterday's portion, blessing at every level, even trickling down to blessings in the most material of needs, blessings of children and blessings of health and blessings of abundant sustenance.

However, Hashem created the world Before there were creations.

Who gave charity before Hashem created the world so that Hashem should reciprocate and give charity and create the world? The answer is no one.

And that's why this is God's mitzvah.

And when you know, each one of us, exactly what is our mission, it's much easier to build up the full construction of the humanity in this world.

I pledge my alliance to Hashem, God of Israel, Creator and King of the Universe, and His Torah.

I hereby pledge that I adhere to the seven laws of Noah,

and I furthermore pledge to continue to uphold these laws in all their details, according to the oral law

of Moshe, under the guidance of the rabbis.

Blessed be you, Hashem, King of the Universe, who has caused me to live, sustaining me,

They brought me to this day.

Parshas Nitzavim has forty verses and zero mitzvahs.

And it begins, "You are standing today, all of you, before Hashem your God, the heads of your tribes, your elders, your officers, all the men of Israel, your small children, your women, and your proselyte who is in the midst of the camp, from the hewer of the wood to the drawer of your water." Rashi tells us that Moshe had gathered the nation on the day of his death.

So from here on, the rest of the Torah is all events that are happening on the day of Moshe's passing.

The whole book of Deuteronomy covers only the last thirty-seven days of Moshe's life.

And he begins by telling them that you're all standing here together, the men, the women, the elders, the regular folk.

Everyone's here together to hear this message, to hear this covenant that the Almighty is gonna make with you as I am about to pass.

Now, all the commentaries spend a lot of time trying to figure out why does Moshe preface his remarks by telling them, "You are standing." So simply put, it means that he's telling them, you know, "You're here, you're gathered, you're standing together to hear this message." But the commentaries offer a variety of other explanations as to why Moshe tells him, "You are standing today, all of you, before Hashem your God." So Rashi quotes a Midrash that the implication here is that you are still standing before Hashem your God.

Last week's parsha, the Jewish people heard all the curses, all the admonition, all the maledictions of what's gonna happen to them if they disobeyed God, if they stray after the idols, if they depart from the ways of the Torah.

Yeah.

Is Hashem hopefully gonna knock some sense into them.

Rabbi, this is a great Torah, we can put in garbage? So [clears throat] the question is, uh, Moshe is asking is what do you do in modernity with the proliferation of the printed word? That, that really is what the question is.

Uh, your grandfather, I-I'll be honest with you, your grandfather or your great-grandfather would not have asked the question.

There are two different opinions.

Um, one opinion is that no, it, uh, like everything, it has words of Torah, it immediately gets kedushah, and therefore it would need to be buried.

If it does- I mean, if it doesn't have Hashem's name.

No, no, I'm talking about, uh, one opinion is everything.
