Hartford Line

The new downtown station is set to open on Sunday.

It'll be connected to Amtrak and the Hartford Line.

Garrett Ucalito leads the State Department of Transportation.

The station has over 160 parking spaces, bicycle racks, and a dedicated bus pickup and drop-off area.

So yeah, I think if you really believe that transit-oriented communities are awesome and an elegant solution to both of these challenges of affordability and sustainability, then the proof is in the pudding.

And what's, what's cool about it is we do have some of those examples already in Connecticut to point to, to say, "Look how beloved South Norwalk is," or, "Look how great, um, you know, the Hartford Line ridership has been," and what all the cool apartments going up around these different stations in Downtown New Britain or wherever.

Um, so we have a little bit of that proof of concept already, uh, that point people can see, literally drive and take the train to go see it.

Um, and that does help because it's... at the end of the day, like, you are trying to say that this is gonna help your community, you're gonna b- experience something from this that's gonna be positive.

Um, so New Haven is, I think, doing a really good job in that.

And a couple of our other big cities are, you know, similar like that.

But then we do have these smaller suburban communities that maybe have a train station and, um, you know, I mentioned the Hartford Line.

That's, that's Connecticut Transit run- And it connects Springfield, Massachusetts all the way down the spine of Connecticut to, uh, New Haven.
