In 1996, I think it was, Harry Stonecipher, top GE lieutenant, one of Welch's guys, went to go first take over McDonnell Douglas, I believe it was.

McDonnell Douglas and Boeing then merge.

But it's really McDonnell Douglas that sort of buys Boeing with Boeing's own money.

You fast forward a couple of months and McDonnell Douglas' leadership is essentially running the combined company.

Harry Stonecipher is CEO and starts implementing the Jack Welch playbook.

And all of a sudden, you know, things like, again, quality.

You know, Boeing was another company where quality and the kind of Yvon Chouinard quality that we'll talk about, it really came first.
