Harriman State Park

oh yeah oh yeah so many places to do that around there i mean it's a little steep so you hang out from the tree but anyway anyway tad what were you up to

oh so i on um for me at least on saturday i did something was fairly interesting I went over to Black Rock State Forest, which is north of Harriman State Park, those parks that are contiguous to it because there's like a new park every five miles over there.

But Black Rock State Forest is a pretty interesting place.

It's run by a consortium of educational institutions they do a bunch of studying over there but i was last at blackrock state forest probably in 1996 30 years ago wow and and two pals of mine and i used to go over there a couple times a week after work uh it was our training grounds for mountain bike racing doing loops and intervals up and down continental and Hulse Road and laps around the top and all that stuff.

And I'm sure there was a lot of things that went into the conversation before they came all the way up here.

because we also film in Harriman State Park often for New York City, which is actually technically, fun fact for you, it's technically outside the union zone, so they should have to pay travel and all this stuff, but it's like one exception the unions have given producers Because of the need for woods.

So it actually kind of sucks when you film at Harriman because you're on your own dime and clock.

You're not on the clock when you're traveling an hour and a half north of the city to get up there.

Well, I was so relieved.

There was a day, I remember there was a day in Harriman State Park in New York where, I don't know, it was 35, 40 degrees out, and it was sunny, and it wasn't windy, and I like took a break.

I like couldn't take a break from hiking, 'cause you get too cold.

So it was like, you know, 700 miles before I could even sit down and like take a load off while I was hiking.

And I don't drink anymore these days myself, but it's just like between the potholes.

But then once you get out there, like once I get to Harriman State Park or once I get to Lido Beach, I don't know if you ever read, you know, where that drawbridge is and Ocean Parkway.

You ever go to Ocean Parkway? It's one of the best roads, you know, so scenic, you know, and you know, once I'll get out there, I'm like, this is why the fudge I'm out here.

Right.

So I really fell in love with it there.

I grew up outside New York City and we used to run up in Harriman State Park.

for trainings and for races.

And it was just so pretty running through there for all of those races.
