ACCOUNTABILITY: Did Atlanta Falcons Coaches FAIL Starting Cooper Rush Over Jack Strand?
A
29:01Aaron FreemanHOST
Well, J.D. Bertrand, compared to Braylon Trice, might as well be the roadrunner.
A
29:05Aaron FreemanHOST
But Jeff, with all due respect, can we get Kendall Daniels, Harold Perkins, Divine Diablo? That's the three linebackers on the field at the same time.
A
29:17Aaron FreemanHOST
You know, again, this is why you have Christian Harris.
A
29:19Aaron FreemanHOST
So I feel like you have better options than Braylon tries acting as that third linebacker.
A
30:25Aaron FreemanHOST
But our last two points are not about the defense.
A
30:29Aaron FreemanHOST
They're special teams nitpicks.
A
30:30Aaron FreemanHOST
Why is Divine Diablo covering punts instead of Harold Perkins? Please, I hope someone who's going to be at Craig Ackerman's presser later this week, please ask him that question.
A
30:40Aaron FreemanHOST
And then also asking the question, why isn't Zachariah Branch out there for every single kickoff return? Right.

yet 'cause like that team is still kinda messy in the Harold Perkins situation, like they're playing out.
R

Like, there's so many like weapons that are solid, like I don't know.
R
63:18Rich DotsonHOST
I do think Boston could be the red zone threat.
FALCONS SQUAD SHOW: Cooper Rush STUMBLES as Starter, Kevin Stefanski FUMBLES Game Plan
J
31:02Jarvis DavisPANELIST
So I like what I saw from him.
J
31:04Jarvis DavisPANELIST
And then, you know, even Harold Perkins getting it, getting it, mixing it up a little bit as well.
J
31:08Jarvis DavisPANELIST
But I really like what I saw

from Brandon Dorless because
INSTANT REACTION: Falcons passing game impotent in 20-13 loss to Steelers
J
15:02Joe PatrickHOST
But, uh, he had a nice big hit in this game.
J
15:05Joe PatrickHOST
We saw Harold Perkins on the field for this team.
J
15:07Joe PatrickHOST
Divine Deablo, as always, was just kind of a presence all over the place, and it feels like opposing, especially backs and, you know, guys he's tackling just kind of bounce off of him the wrong way.
J
15:17Joe PatrickHOST
So positive for Divine Deablo and how big and physical he is.
A new era of Steelers football begins against the Falcons
J
23:51Joe KuzmaHOST
Daniels is interesting too with Divine Diablo.
J
23:53Joe KuzmaHOST
They're the starting inside linebackers on this defense with Harold Perkins, a rookie in reserve.
J
24:00Joe KuzmaHOST
So I don't know, there's a lot of change in Atlanta.
J
24:03Joe KuzmaHOST
I don't always like to be bullish because you know how this ends up being when we are with these type of games and some of the unknowns.
Steelers Night Shift: Opposite Sideline Week 1 vs Atlanta Falcons
D
20:38Dom C.GUEST
You've got some options.
D
20:39Dom C.GUEST
I actually really love what I've seen out of the young pieces, especially the young linebackers, guys like Kendall Daniels and Harold Perkins Jr. have looked really, really well in training camp and preseason.
D
20:50Dom C.GUEST
So I think that if they can kind of hold things down to start the season, it'll be fun to see what that defense can look like moving forward, especially from a pass rush standpoint.
D
21:01Dom C.GUEST
And then the run game, I think, will be much improved.
FALCONS SQUAD SHOW: Tua Tagovailoa is the STARTER-Is He Ready For The Pittsburgh Steelers?
T
47:49Tanitra BatisteHOST
So when you kind of look at that pairing, Aaron, what does that say about the rookie just to be able to say, hey, man, They saw something throughout the course of this offseason that told them and gave the Falcons confidence that he could run up alongside Diablo and get it done against the Steelers.
A
48:10Aaron FreemanPANELIST
Yeah, I think the Falcons offseason bringing in Christian Harris was kind of a placeholder just in case the draft didn't go the way that they went with Kendall Daniels and ultimately Harold Perkins.
A
48:21Aaron FreemanPANELIST
And you just didn't know how ready they would be because Daniels only being a two-year starter, At linebacker and Perkins, you know, in and out of the lineup at LSU and in more of a pass rusher than necessarily a true blue stack linebacker.
A
48:38Aaron FreemanPANELIST
But, you know, I think both Daniels and Perkins came in, played well in OTAs, played well at the beginning of training camp.
Aaron Rodgers is going to provide a BIG Challenge for this Falcons Defense
C
5:39Corey BurtonHOST
His instincts have been great, and he's picked up the scheme very, very quickly.
C
5:44Corey BurtonHOST
Him and Harold Perkins both have picked up the scheme very, very quickly.
C
5:48Corey BurtonHOST
Kendall Daniels, I guess, offers you a little bit more upside as a potential green dot than Harold Perkins does, but I think both of those guys will get a lot of playing time beside Divine Diablo, and this is, again, I think he's going to make a ton of plays.
C
6:03Corey BurtonHOST
And then Avion Terrell, I think it's going to be an important matchup against Jeremy Bernard.
C
6:07Corey BurtonHOST
It's going to be rookie on rookie.
HR2: Unit Matchups
M
11:16Max StarksHOST
You don't want Kendall Daniels, a rookie they drafted this year, in the fourth round.
M
11:22Max StarksHOST
And then Harold Perkins, who, you know, as I'm looking at, like, who can generate additional pass rush, Harold Perkins is a guy I had at LSU for a long time, Will.
M
11:33Max StarksHOST
And early in his career was an outside pass rusher, was dynamic.
M
11:39Max StarksHOST
He, as a freshman, started for LSU.
Falcons rookies to receive NFL baptism by fire in Week 1 vs. Steelers
J
7:23Joe PatrickHOST
Kendall Daniels, Avion Terrell were in starting positions, the two rookies that were in starting roles for this defense.
J
7:29Joe PatrickHOST
You also saw Harold Perkins Jr. as a backup at linebacker.
J
7:34Joe PatrickHOST
If you were Harold Perkins or Harold Perkins Jr.'s supporter heading into this situation, seeing him as one of the primary backups for the two linebackers that are starting would basically be a dream.
J
7:45Joe PatrickHOST
So I think it speaks to how well he's doing and I think that he will, even though he's not a starter, still get plenty of reps during games in certain situations down in distances.
J
7:54Joe PatrickHOST
From what I've heard, we haven't talked to Jeff Ulbrich about this directly, but from what I understand he really is a huge fan of Harold Perkins and especially what he can develop into, so very exciting stuff there, but obviously Kendall Daniels, you know, that's as shocking to me as pretty much anything, not necessarily that he was named starter, because you could see it coming, like with what we saw at training camp, you could see that he was tracking to get to this point, but it was all of that, it was all of that that happened in training camp that was really, really impressive to me, because He missed so much of the summer program leading up to that, the rookie minicamp, the OTAs.
