Harijan

Let's take the case of India.

It was long the case in India that you had what were known as untouchables, Harijans, and these were people who had no rights, no standing.

They were not even to be looked at, and they could not touch a regular person.

Uh, okay.

Isn't part of

the significance of that story that he was like a peasant, like the Harijans here in a way? That's why the people, the priests, did not listen to him.

And then the peasants felt that after this, that Christ was for them too.

And one evening they took us to a restaurant.

The family were too poor, presumably.

And then about how school gave him this rude awakening of being a Dalit or, as he says, a Harijan, an untouchable.

I describe this as a hybrid documentary because there are actors playing Piquet and Lotta, for example, and those parts are therefore dramatic reenactments.

The rest of the people and the stories that they tell within the film are real, aren't they?
