Hanserd Knollys

They had become spiritually lazy, and Christ needed to rebuke them.

And I wanna take a look here from Hanserd Knollys, one of the signers of the Second London.

He actually has an entire commentary on Revelation, the entire book he has a commentary on.

And looking, h- his comments here prove my point that this is to the churches.

But yeah, resources, um, Cox is very, very helpful as it relates to this.

[lips smack] Uh, Hanserd Knollys.

Now, this guy is a beast of a writer.

He wrote very lengthy works.

Um, he's definitely more of a eschatology guy.

If you wanna see writings on, a lot of writings on eschatology, Hanserd Knollys is the guy.

Now, my understanding is that Hanserd Knollys, uh, took what would, you know, anachronistically be considered a post-millennial view.

Um, and of course, Keach, Keach wrote...

But in terms of what that means is, what does it mean to be unequally yoked is not always readily understood, or I think there's a lot of misunderstanding around it.

And I do wanna look at this, you know, from a Particular Baptist perspective because there was, uh, commentary done on this particular section of scripture, um, by Hanserd Knollys, one of our confessional signers, in his commentary on Revelation.

He wrote a, an entire commentary on the Book of Revelation, and i- it's actually called "An Exposition on the Whole Book of Revelation." So every chapter he does a expositional walkthrough on, and this is toward the end of his commentary in talking about the church needing to come out of Babylon, so to speak, wicked Babylon, and be separate from them.

And I'll get to that, what he said specifically in a little bit, but that's really where this is, is coming from, from Hanserd Knollys and, and a, you know, kind of a conversation I was having with another brother on the, on the subject.

And it's interesting that, uh, what struck me was that my conclusion [chuckles] on, uh, what this passage was, um, talking about, at least to some ex- you know, to the general principle, I guess, was what K- Knollys landed on.

Uh, and more specifically, and I guess the, the specific application of that principle.

So, you know, I think it's interesting because it's a very different understanding of it than what you typically find today, which I guess should be no surprise because the old guys tend to be very c- uh, would be considered very counter-evangelical, um, be- just because of how far we've removed ourselves from the older tradition and, and older understandings, which tend to be more orthodox and consistent.

All of these are religious idolatry, and for a Christian to not come out from them is to mix Christ with Belial.
