It would be something that, like, they were doing to show off for the reporter, whereas here it's this organic thing where th- everyone's mad at each other and somehow just hearing the song that they all like reminds them, "Oh, you know, here's the reason that we actually got into doing this together, no matter how much we can drive each other crazy."

For some reason you just made me picture the Chloe Zhao press tour for Hamnet where they're like, "No, we really do have fun.

We love playing our favorite songs and running around on stage."

I saw Hamnet.

Did you like it?

Yeah.

He plays a father who is taking his young daughter on a vacation, and as we begin to study over the course of the film, we understand that he is having some kind of mental health issues that he's dealing with, and the daughter, who was, you know, a tween at the time in the late '90s when the vacation happened, is in the present day thinking back about her father, and so the movie's very much a memory piece.

Paul Mescal got, uh, nominated for Best Actor for this for the Oscars, and after that he did things like Gladiator and Hamnet.

And while I've liked some of those performances since then, he's never made anything that has been as singular, uh, as Aftersun, uh, was.

Uh, it premiered in Cannes in Critics' Week for first and second time filmmakers.
