In the 1830s, with the profits from his textile business, J.G. Horsefall would buy 35 acres of land in Manningham, then acquire Hamlet on the outskirts of Bradford, away from the dirt and noise of the mills, and build a villa there.

With the poachers, Nicholson might appear to be taking the side of Horsefall and property, the opposite side to his contemporary John Clare.

But if we imagine his flashes of wit and merriment, and his eye beaming with fire as he performed this poem in the pub, we might see him as a poacher in yet another sense.

I think it's very interesting that this book circles back to all the same places that we visited in book one.

But in book one, we saw it.

I mean, we're still, it's still a Gothic book, both of them.

But seeing the Hamlets at like their peak, And at fun times and we're killing gods on the sides and then coming back and watching as like the environment is like eating away at these Hamlets, watching all of these sprites, like maneuvering and everything's more mystical.

And it's such a grimmer setting.

Like the people are fucking starving.
