Halloween Is Grinch Night

Actually, I'll say this.

If they were to do another animated Grinch, I would like Warner Brothers Pictures Animation to do Halloween is Grinch Night.

I mean, I guess.

Because it'd be funny to have the Grinch take over Halloween decorations as well in the same way that Jack Skellington has taken over Christmas decorations and Halloween decorations.

It is gonna be the October foreshadowing.

It's gonna be Halloween is Grinch Night, a second Grinch cartoon I was unaware existed until today.

Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm.

Now, you might remember there was...

A couple other films that were released around this time, Dr. Seuss wrote and produced a very under-seen movie called Halloween is Grinch Night from 1977, which won an Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program.

Then 1982, The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat, which had a crossover.

It was like he was creating his own MCU.

Yes.

We get Halloween Is Grinch Night in 1977.

We get Pontiful Pock: Where Are You? in 1980.

The Grin- Grinch's The Cat in the Hat in 1982, and finally the Butter Battle Book in 1989.

The brand sold itself.

Exactly.

That is why you get things like Halloween Is Grinch Night, which was basically an attempt to artificially create a Halloween tradition to match the Christmas one.

Oh, that makes total sense.

And that brings us to one of my personal favorites.

Halloween is Grinch Night.

And this one isn't some curiosity I discovered as an adult either.

I have been watching Halloween is Grinch Night in the lead up to Halloween every single year since I was a child.

With essentially the same devotion that I faithfully watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas every year as Christmas approaches.

For me, the two Grinches have always had their appointed seasons.

So How the Grinch Stole Christmas has become such a familiar piece of American Christmas culture that even people who haven't actually watched the special, like yourself, often know the Grinch, Max, Mount Crumpet, the basic shape of the story.

But what a lot of people don't know is that 11 years after the beloved Chuck Jones animated Christmas special first aired in 1966, Dr. Seuss brought the Grinch back for something decidedly stranger.

it's too new wait well I guess we're just doing two weeks of Grinch then you Grinch

did you know what other what I'll just tell you because you don't there's a Grinch Halloween special back then that just it's very off-putting to me it's like stay in your lane Grinch.

Stay

in your lane, Grinch.
