But I do want to look at saying of how the Northern Super League is going and we see how the playoffs are shaping up.

again and seeing how the montreal roses are the first team that qualified to the playoffs for the 2026 northern super league playoffs and now who's going to be the three teams who are going to qualify Again, Halifax Tides still has a chance to be that fourth team.

Vancouver Rise, AFC Toronto, Ottawa Rapid still in those spots that could qualify.

And there is a lot to go.

But yeah, I mean, taking on a Vancouver Rise team they've had some success against in the last couple of months, a team that is currently occupying the fourth and final spot in the NSL playoff bracket.

Surely they'll want to hold on to their two-point lead over Halifax Tides.

We'll see what version of the Calgary Wilds show up around that afternoon.

For sure.

I think that that's where she played in, in college.

But she's been training at left back with, with the Tides, especially before her injury.

Mm-hmm.

And I thought she was really good, but like I looked statistically, she was, she was the top passer.

... and then not to mention she's great on, she's good on the set piece, too, and she had like four crosses.

Anyway, so just a little shout-out to Ka- to, uh, Kat Jordan there.

Uh, a better second half from the Tides, but, uh, you know, with the insertion of, of, uh, Sarah LaMiller came in, coming in.

Stella Downing was again very, very effective, and credit to Keltie Dilling for that save on Jordan Rhodes, which I'm sure Rhodes would've loved to smack that a little bit harder, but, um, yeah.

Since the 1880s, 1882 in fact, it has been a sports and entertainment location in the city of Halifax.

From the Wanderer's Amateur Athletic Club that started in 82, to Babe Ruth legendarily hitting a home run into the public gardens in the 1940s, to today when we have the Halifax Wanderers and the Halifax Tides both entertaining citizens at the grounds.

Unfortunately, when I first got involved in this project in around 2015, the state of the grounds was not, I think, as any of us would hope.

It was, as it is now, gated.

Our local star, Jacob Schaffelberg, as a young man, actually kicked the winning penalty kick in that game for us before he went on to bigger and greater things with Team Canada.

uh we kicked off in 2019 uh in the cpl with the halifax wanders we came back after a very uh challenging time through covid when we weren't allowed to bring people together in large groups uh we took a little pause uh managed to survive that and came back to council in 2023 uh with our proposal for a In 2023, we were fortunate to host Christine Sinclair as part of her final three games of her career nationally as she traveled across Canada in a great event at the grounds on a cold, cold Halloween night.

We were then pleased to see the Halifax Tides launch in 2025, bringing Halifax's first professional women's team to market.

We've been a great addition to the vibrancy of the of the Wanderers Grounds.

Uh, we're gonna talk about the Calgary Wild.

They played the Halifax Tides at McMahon.

Talk about Calvary FC.

They played Pacific FC, uh, on Vancouver Island.

So a one-nothing win for the Calgary Wild over the visiting Halifax Tides.

A goal coming in the 48th minute, I believe it was, from Tegan Stuart, who's the easy choice for player of the game.

The Calgary Wild return to McMahon Stadium.

They're going to play the Halifax Tides.

And we've got a bunch of previews for the U Sports teams and the ACAC teams as well.

So as you mentioned off the top, Calgary Wild are back in town.

They're going to be at McMahon Stadium Saturday at noon.

They're going to play the Halifax Tides.

Yeah, we'll see if Calgary can keep their red-hot, unbeaten streak going.

Um, I said that lightly.

Uh, is a Halifax Tide supporter and said that, which w- is a surprise to nobody.

Um, but I think what happened here is, uh, I guess, a series of unfortunate events in the second match.

We'll see what happens against Tanzania, um, and hopefully it'll go well for Canada.

Um, so they're really struggling, but they remain in second place, only up a point on AFC Toronto, uh, where an extra point, a draw that they had on the weekend at BMO.

Um, they're on 32 points.

The Tides are on 24 points, so they're in the last, um, playoff position there.

And then below that line are the Vancouver Rise in 20- with 23 points, and the Calgary Wild with 11.

... yeah, like, players who were, were, you know, struggling all season long and, and now that players in the same position have come aboard, uh, who are doing a little bit better, like, they're just not gonna see, uh, the minutes that they were before when they were the only option in that position.

So the next match is at McMahon on Saturday against, uh, Halifax Tides.

Leah Blaney, it was announced, uh, today that she, uh, has returned to the team.

She's come back from Australia from her personal leave.

So, so I guess the rebuilding process continues and back on the McMahon, uh, stadium pitch, uh, this up- upcoming weekend.

Yeah, they'll be taking on Halifax Tides, a game that if Halifax wins, uh, the Wild will be mathematically eliminated from playoffs with, I believe, five games left.

Currently, Calgary are 13 points back of a playoff spot, so as you and I have talked about, not really something they're probably thinking about at the moment.

But they probably wanna keep the streak going for as long as they can without being mathematically eliminated.
