I... love lost media archaeology i love hearing about not just about lost media about things where you're just like oh we'll never see that that footage is never going to come to light but the the stories of people who go and find these things and figure out their origins is that a long-time obsession of yours or did that just kind of emerge with roxy

it kind of emerged with Roxy.

I, I mean, there are little, there are definitely things that I've had as like, kind of, uh, I don't know what the word you want for is like, uh, you know, lost treasure, like holy grail type of things.

But the problem is to me, like, you know, I used to be really into cryptids when I was younger and it kind of was preparation as for that in the sense of a lot of holy grails are just holy, like crusades for holy grails are just wild goose chases and disguise.

Like the King Kong spider pit, for example, that gets brought up between her Roxy and her friend Barnaby and And the thing is, I brought it, and I bring it up, they bring it up in the book, it's just like, like, I used to be one of those people who was like, oh, if only they could find that strip of film.

Like, it probably got burned, because it's from, you know, it's from 1933, but wouldn't it be so cool if somebody could find the Willis O'Brien, you know, spider pit scene from that movie? And there came to be a point where...

Not only was it like this can't, this probably won't exist anymore.

A lot of it does feel very Lynchian.

Like, were you thinking about David Lynch while you were writing it? I'm not sure if it was a conscious thing with this book.

Definitely a couple other books of mine.

I was thinking about Lynch while writing them.

All the Hearts to Eat definitely has a lot of Twin Peaks influence.

And my next saga book that comes out in October this year, She Isn't Herself Tonight.

I'm a very structure-minded creator.

What do you think readers who may be unfamiliar with kink culture take away from how it's portrayed in the book?

Um, having that feel realistic is more important to me than that a reader likes them.

I'm, I don't even care if it's relative to something that could happen or not.

so in the city where she lives, she's like, the sky is always dark because there's so much light coming from the ground, the light pollution.

She does miss that.

Her thing is that she finally tells her she's 30 and she finally tells her boyfriend, I've been abducted by aliens.

It's probably going to happen again.

At which point he dumps her, evicts her from their home, and her life just spirals out of control from there.

So as far as themes are concerned, Movie Doesn't End is kind of about the integrity of art.

Do you think that, would you agree that this book might be one of your most, I guess, you know, based on your own personal, you know, views, experiences? Like, do you think this character is very you that you wrote or, you know, compared to like your other books that you've written before?
