Could you walk us through a little bit more about how this leads you to advocates?
12:26
Sure, yeah.
12:27
So I'm a heart failure cardiologist, which means that we take care of patients who have really crippling heart disease.
12:35
And there are so many things that we can do as heart failure cardiologists.
12:39
We can do heart transplants, we can do LVADs, which are these mechanical pumps that essentially replace the heart, and patients can sort of live with them for several years.
12:51
But the fact is that by the time a patient has heart failure, you've kind of already lost, right? I mean, there's so much you could have done before they even had heart failure that could have even prevented them from being that sick to begin with.
13:05
One of the things that drew me to heart failure was the fact that this is a field that we have a lot of clinical evidence.
16:36
So for listeners who haven't yet seen the Advocate innovative solution opening, can you give us the program in your own words? What does a successful Advocate clinician standard actually do for a patient with advanced heart failure that currently the model cannot, the health system can't?
4:59
So in kind of plain terms, what are you asking these teams to build?
5:05
So I work at ARPA-AH, which is the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health.
5:08
We are a funding agency, and our goal is to fund transformative advances in healthcare.
5:13
We don't do research ourselves.
5:14
What we do is that we build programs, which are really visions of the future that we want teams out there to take a stab at and build.
5:22
And the advocate program, the vision, is really born out of my own experience as a clinician.
5:27
During the pandemic, I was here in Boston.
9:45
Why is that? Why no human?
