The Department of Homeland Security yesterday proposed eliminating a 60-day grace period that allows certain immigrants, including workers on H-1B visas, to stay in the country and find a new sponsor after losing their job.

The department acknowledged companies affected by the change could see some disruption, but said the jobs could go to American workers instead, and added that in some circumstances, people who left could potentially reapply if their employer petitions for them.

So I'm going to hit this up real quick.

But I dug into some economic research from George Mason's Mercatus.

I think it's Mercatus Center, which showed that the restriction of H-1B visas had led to more offshoring.

of high-skilled jobs to foreign subsidiaries in countries like India, China, Canada.

They also, they're thinking that there was going to be a massive loss of innovation because 41% of patents granted to U.S. headquartered companies involve at least one foreign-born inventor.

They're taking less money than I would take.

And, you know, I like what we're doing on the illegal immigrant front.

We just made some H-1B wins.

So it's not really a funny joke because you basically have your job taken by an H-1B and then a Somali scams us in the health care system and then the other immigrants take welfare.

So I, I'll give you a couple of examples.

Um, okay, number one, almost all the gains that we've made on immigration, and there have been massive gains over the last year and a half, we have H-1B visas down.

We have it much stricter on legal immigration.

In particular, it's going to take a look at the H-1B housing market.

Because apparently, there are areas in the country that have very high concentrations of H-1Bs, which, of course, are 85% Indian nationals.

They're underwater on their loans.

Homes are being dropped into foreclosure.

We've got to charge them more.

Why don't we eliminate the entire program? The entire program, these visa programs, are total scams.

I don't know.

Could the president make an emergency order and just make a pause? I know some industries do need immigrants to do the jobs that Americans aren't doing, but 90% of these jobs can be done by an American citizen and mostly done better.

The visa program, H-1B, is mandated by Congress.

That's why he can't just eliminate it.
