against Spider-Gwen.

I don't recall if I've ever read a Spider-Gwen comic.

This is where I'm going to sound like an old man for a second.

About ten years ago, I was poking around, because I had just gotten my iPad, and I was poking around the Marvel Universe as it existed at that point.

So I kind of thought that they would leave it at that.

and use this opportunity to draw on more love interests for him, you know, like Black Cat or Gwen Stacy.

But, you know, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that not only do Ned and MJ still have a part to play, but they have a part in the story that works and actually works in tandem with Peter's character journey in this film.

And it also works with the stakes of the film as well.

and the wilderness of the Fenrir Rangers for years, right? Then there was, here, take this chair, or here, serve on the Titan, and I'm Shaw, and even though I deeply respect you, I'm also going to treat you like shit.

There's a real dialectic at play there, and I'm trying to carry forward all these characters, which is frankly too many, but through not just, we're not just coming back and banging the drum of like, you know, Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, which, by the way, those are perfect, so that works, but it's like, you're, but it's like, that's a, that's a, that's an urtext moment, so it's like, but also, like, right now, I'm having people being churned through more shit in their past, and they're, and it's like, oh, shit, like, here's why this character is feels lost and you're connecting more tissue to it.

You're like, oh, here's why this character has this overzealous, overprotective savior complex.

And looking back, and yeah, you see, oh, you get stuff.

And Marvel has, like, Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Doctor Doom.

And Marvel is pimping the hell out of Doctor Doom.

They are building up to Doomsday like nobody's business.

But I'm heartbroken for Peter, 'cause he loved her so much.
