We have two big brown families.

Like, what do your parents do? How did you get an in? And I'm like, there's no in.

My in is my lovely, non-binary, gay, Tourette's friend, Guyanese, short as hell, Buddy named Shahara Ghaznabi fully docks them.

I'm kidding.

No. But...

So my dad's Nigerian Igbo, my mum Guyanese, Amerindian, Afro-Indian, so South American, because the only time I say Guyana, people think Ghana.

I was like, no, South America, Caribbean.

But all Igbo firstborn daughters are known as Ada.

That was the Guyanese party, the party that started in Guyana.

This is a cultural conversation.

Not having no chaser for like an hour or an hour and a half, two hours is ridiculous.

And I know Guyanese like to drink, but no chaser? Y'all was literally giving people bottles with just ice in cups.

a dream event let me hear it imagine that you could pay a small fee to walk into a room and sample all the Guyanese cuisine that your heart desires imagine Well, guess what? It's not a dream.

DJ Dondi has been on the show before, and he is back again to talk about the upcoming Taste of Guyana event on September 26th.

And we are going to have a ball this year.

Because this year's theme is Guyanese Christmas.

Mmm.

My aforementioned roommate I told you about, he was Canadian, but he was, his family was from Guyana.

So he's Guyanese and he's got a bit of darker skin.

And then in the preceding weeks, he would come to tell me that him and his family received some threats, which is just completely absurd, especially for the fact that they're from a country that had no connection to this whatsoever.

And of course, there's just embodied trauma everywhere.

Where is your name from? What's your background?

Guyanese.

Guyanese.

Okay.

That's a beautiful name.

And one of them was, I just saw her name in my journal again.

Her first name is Ramona, who's originally Guyanese.

And she's a sculptor.

And so I hung out with them for a couple of weeks.

Yes.

Yes.

And then she started telling the story that it was her father, a Guyanese father who had gone over, and then the writer who wrote the story, and then they made the movie.

Now, what are the chances that... that could happen.
