You've talked about this before, Guy, on this show, but can you tell us what it's been like working with him and having his blessing to fill in as the play-by-play voice of the Niners while he's getting better?

it'd be impossible to do it without that.

Um, you know, you, you, you know him very well.

Uh, everybody, I think we, even if you don't know him personally, probably feels like, you know, I'm very well because he's been around.

He, he, you know, he's talks for like three or four hours a day for, for years and years and years and years.

And, um, you know, he was working at the radio station that you and I both worked at as you were when I arrived there in 2012 in the Bay area.

And, um, know was just always from the beginning uh like like just like you were so kind and generous and thoughtful and um uh you know i uh uh i don't i don't even know how to articulate it like especially for me coming in when i came to the berry in my 20s uh having people who encouraged you people you admired you know, encourage you like Greg.

But what, what stood out to you in terms of, let's just say 49ers offense versus the Chargers defense first?

Well, the one that really caught my attention is the first thing you said, which was Kaylon Black's return.

Christian McCaffrey, Kyle said afterwards if it was a game, Christian could go.

You need a run- another running back now.

The YAC was not coming, the YAC was coming around the line of scrimmage, but that's fine.

I think, you know, I was talking to some of the Niners coaches when they had a open session to talk to the assistants on Sunday, and I talked to one of them about, you know, kinda what, what, what does it look like? He said, he said, "You know, the, the tw-..." And I went back, "And wh- You go watch the '23 tape." And I know the Super Bowl was in '23, and, or the '23 season, and that was the year that, you know, everyone rightfully got frustrated after the Super Bowl that the Niners couldn't get open against man coverage.

But it's a lot of Christian going this way, and, and Deebo going this way, and Juice going this way, and now somebody is open down the seam.

Um, I think they can be...

I think if they're healthy, they, they should be, will be the best red zone scoring offense in the league.

Mike Evans is the number one red zone scoring receiver the last five years at the goal line, five yards and in.

Yeah.

When Kyle Shanahan comes out today and says Nick Bosa has knee tendonitis and he's weak to weak, how concerned are you given the injury history with him?

Um, well, I mean, he, the way the other, Kyle said sore or tendonitis, you know, it's hard to nail down exactly what some of this stuff is.

He said, our doctors tell us 90% of the time this happens.

Obviously Nick's been through it, not talking to Nick about it.

You know, I'd love to know kind of his, is he saying like, cause I think with the guys who've been through it and the guys that really know their body, Christian, the same deal.

I think those guys get a big say rightfully and Hey, this is how I'm feeling.

And I think, you know, Kyle kind of said as related to Christian, um, like it felt like he was saying the way Christian's talking is I'm good.

The injuries were devastating.

I mean, if you can't get a pass rush, whether you're playing simple or if you're playing complicated, either one is gonna blow up, right? This year if you're playing a more simplistic offense in terms of read and react for your secondary, uh, that's gonna blow up if they don't have a pass rush.

And last year definitely it was really hard.

You're not gonna confuse any quarterbacks without a pass rush.
