And I finally interrupted them.

And I said, look, I lived in Gustavus, Alaska, which has 200 people and no road in or out.

You are not scaring me.

And I think that's why they hired me.

But there's one strange detail Swartz includes about himself in that same book.

Long before he'd ever heard of Wade Tackett, while attending July 4th festivities in the small Alaskan town of Gustavus, he saw a man.

It was only later, after he'd begun researching for the book, that he realized the man he'd seen in Gustavus looked remarkably like an artist's rendition of what Wade would look like as an adult.

He's never fully explained what he saw or why he didn't change his conclusion.
