Gunning

You know, John, yes, I never thought I'd be saying this, but yes, we've actually had a twister here in Australia in springtime and in inland Australia.

Where it happened was in the town of Gunning.

Now, this is around about 60 miles inland south of Sydney.

So this is a very rural area, very much a... an area where you do get wild weather, but you don't get anything such as a twister.

And what happened in Gunning yesterday is that we got another surprise line of storms through the eastern seaboard here.

So one storm after another came through, very, very violent, very, very windy.

But in the town of Gunning, One of those storms actually turned into a funnel cloud.

In fact, while some New South Wales firefighters were responding, in fact, to another emergency where a house had basically lost part of its roof, one of the firefighters managed to get the camera out and actually capture this phenomenon.

I'm Renee Bigatko.

A driver has died after two trucks collided on the Hume Highway at Gunning early this morning.

Police say it happened near Collector Road around 6am.

One driver died while the other escaped uninjured.
