Gundam Build Fighters

Friends and folks, for this episode, you're looking at a spoiler warning level of Butterscotch.

We're talking about some machines from Gundam Build-A-Fighter's Tri and related media.

And they are pretty spoilery, but also this is a show that the Great Gundam Project has already covered.

And also, I think it's pretty bad, and I don't really care if we spoil it.

A red Kampfer.

You would think that would be, like, um, like a Build Fighter shit too.

Yeah.

Right.

In January 1982, there was even a stampede incident at the Daiei Shin-Matsudo store in Chiba, where 250 elementary and junior high school students rushed an escalator, leading to several serious injuries.

I think that should've been a plot line on Gundam Build Fighters at some point.

[laughs] Yes.

Um, [laughs] anyway.

Happy to

introduce him to Build Fighters with Rinko.

Oh, my man Himmel has already seen Build Fighters.

Last, but most certainly not least.

Hana is voiced by Yoko Hikasa.

Morishita is one of those animators who never made the jump to series or even episode director, but he had a long career as an animation director, starting with two episodes of Victory Gundam in 1993 and as a key animator working through the outsourcing studio Anime R.

In the latter half of the '90s, he worked on The 08th MS Team as an animator, among many other shows, and then returned to mainline Gundam entries in the 2000s, directing animation for SEED, 00, Unicorn, Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Build Fighters.

The bulk of the key animation was outsourced to production studios Anime R, Studio Takuranke, and Gainax, which by this point was deep into pre-production for next year's Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Now, the play-by-play.

It is interesting because I feel like this is one of the scenes in multiple suit Gundam that gets parodied and homaged all the time.

Like there's even one in Build Fighters.

Isla does exactly this thing.

Yep, I remember.
