The media has been a tool of colonisation in Australia.

The colonisation process from invasion to now has used the media to communicate certain ideas about us.

My obsession of the week is actually a monthly series that I stumbled across that is published by The Guardian Australia every month on their Instagram, and this is so nerdy, but I was like, this is actually a really helpful resource, and every month they share Australia's best value fruit and veggies.

[gasps] Wow.

Obsessed.

It has fundamentally changed the structure of the Australia-US relationship.

As we mentioned last week, Guardian Australia published an extraordinary piece documenting the breadth and the depth of Australia's enmeshment with the American military-industrial complex.

That report was based on research done by Professor Richard Tantor, who leads and coordinates the Australian Bases and US Involvement Project.

Richard is a Senior Research Associate at the Nautilus Institute for Security and Sustainability and an Honorary Professorial Fellow in Political Science at the University of Melbourne.

Australia's challenge is therefore not simply preserving jobs, but managing the transition to cleaner steelmaking without allowing the loss of specialized domestic production to become a lasting dependence on imports.

Auckland's City Rail Link reshapes how New Zealand's largest city moves.

Auckland has begun passenger services on the City Rail Link, completing New Zealand's largest transport infrastructure project and fundamentally changing the city's rail network.

Sure.

Well, the idea behind the project to start with was that we were looking for a very powerful story to help launch Guardian Australia.

We were opening, as you know, the Guardian is based in the UK and the main office, the head office is in London.

But we also have a very substantial organization in the United States based in New York.

And we were launching a similar operation based in Australia, which would allow the Guardian to have basically kind of 24 hour coverage around the world.

And so we were launching Guardian Australia.

We were looking for a very strong story to do that, to kind of show to Australia, hey, you know, this is what we can do.

This is what the Guardian can do.
