Guard rail

But I have that structure and I have to have guardrails that keep me on track or accountable to myself.

And so I have some of those guardrails.

Guardrails, because I know you've mentioned the guardrails in the Patreon community and the people in those meetings were going guardrails.

Wow, that's a really great way to look at it.

So just extend on that a little bit.

And so I think that like, That's the first thing.

It's similar here, right? And the AI has Guardrails itself.

I did a lot of compliance and security things so that it doesn't do anything wrong, doesn't do anything shady.

And also, it's not like today, at least it doesn't have the customer's credit card to spend.

Right

We need guardrails here

Guardrails that, that-

Right

... that we do not have

Like when the system fails, who eats the blame? And, you know, do they actually have the power to prevent the failure? And if those two don't match, you've already built a moral crumple zone.

You know, you just... waiting for the crash um i keep using this example air france 447 um even though it's not an ai story i mean autopilot handed control back to pilots whose uh manual skills had a trophy precisely because the autopilot was so good i mean they were nominally responsible but system had quietly stripped them of the readiness to be responsible i mean that that pattern is now everywhere in ai deployments i mean the doctor signs off on the recommendation the judge accepts the risk the score the driver is legally in control of a car that's been marketed to them as self-driving um you know so formal accountability zero real leverage and you know in in the in in reality so in practice i look for maybe four things you know first is uh Guardrails that force the system to pause and ask before it acts on anything high stakes or ambiguous.

I mean, not confidence scores, burden a log, an actual check-in, like, you know, that's important.

And the second contrastive explanations, I mean, not raw transparency, which is usually unreadable, but the system telling you why this and not that.
