Growing degree-day

We have probably caught more rains than folks further south, and I think our cotton really reflects that.

But just for perspective, I pulled up some, through our Kansas Mesonet data, pulled up our GDUs and just think looking at the departure data, In southwest Kansas, we are about 150 or 450, rather, DVDs ahead of normal for this year.

So we're sitting at 450 ahead.

South central Kansas, we're looking more like 550 ahead of normal.

Oh, yeah, definitely.

But a- a- on saying this then, so we're talking about how, uh, we feel that we could do more, sorry, like, uh, less frequently at the start of the year and at the end, and more frequently in the middle, then that takes me on talking about GDD.

So we obviously look at growth degree days for growth retardants.

They get used up more during the hot times where the degradation of the chemical's larger, et cetera, 'cause of how much the grass plant's growing.

Should we be looking at this for wetting agents? Should we be building a model for GDD so then it might be two months apart March and April, and then May, June, July, whatever, three weeks apart, et cetera, or however many days you get to a certain magic number, 'cause we have been talking about that.

I mean, I think, like you say, it makes total sense.

I mean, the whole thing is based on the fact that with these temperatures and that's breaking down a lot quicker.

So yeah, I, I, I think there's definitely validity in, in looking into that sort of thing.

Yeah, well, you know, I, you know, because both Doughty and I have seen it, and we knew how many GDUs they had left, we knew there was a chance, but none of them took me on, 'cause I would have gladly paid for it if they gave me all the profit that they made-
