Ground speed

Like, we're not doing that We're just looking at our reference out the window and maneuvering our airplane appropriately to stay in the proper distance from it.

Okay? The ground speed of the airplane is also affected by the wind.

As the wind direction becomes parallel to the airplane's longitudinal axis, the magnitude of the wind's effect on the ground speed is greater.

As the wind becomes perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, the magnitude of the wind's effect on the ground speed is less.

In general, when the wind is blowing straight into the nose of the airplane, the ground speed will be less than the airspeed.

When the wind is blowing from directly behind the airplane, the ground speed will be faster than the airspeed.

In other words, when the airplane is headed upwind, the ground speed is decreased.

When the he- uh, when headed downwind, the ground speed is increased.

We do, we have tons of different speeds in the aviation world, but basically we go up two things, airspeed and groundspeed.

Airspeed for, you know, what we're flying through the air.

Groundspeed is obviously what we're going over the ground.

So that's just basically if there's wind or something like that.

So right now we're going about 80 over the air and the ground, so it's about even.
