They have a, uh, AI assistant attached, and it's private, so I feel a little bit better using it 'cause it doesn't come from one of the big vendors, so I play around with it a little bit more than the others.

And I asked it some question, and it cited, uh, Grokipedia, [laughs] which is Elon's Wikipedia clone that he made using Grok.

And I-- This is, this is what makes you stop using these things very quickly, right? Um, uh, a- and luckily, I w- you know, the particular one I was using shows you what it's citing, so I was able to see that that's what it was doing.

But, uh, you know, I laughed at Grokipedia along with everybody else, but it's slowly becoming a, a source of truth, which is, yeah, I mean, that is-- that's transparently what Elon wanted with this.

I mean, why else are the, you know, Ellisons trying to buy an entire another media company and freaking out when they're not allowed to? And of course, all their investments are also in, in AI.

I wanna dwell a little bit more, though, on the, on the switch we've seen in the, uh, uh, tech industry because, uh, prior to AI and the Trump administration, whatever causal weight you wanna give them, uh, the tech industry really seems to me to have been the ultimate version of American liberalism.

But at least those biases are visible and traceable.

Grokipedia, on the other hand, offers no transparency other than providing sources like Wikipedia does.

But as you'll see later on, the sourcing on Grokipedia has its own problems.

Articles on Grokipedia are generated and fact-checked by a large language model, whose internal workings are entirely opaque, even to its creators, and then its outputs can be subject to Elon Musk's personal recalibration, in particular if the article is on a topic he cares about.

Also becoming an expert, like writing articles for your bar association and your chamber of commerce and different legal entities out there.

I don't know if you realize, they made a clone of Wikipedia called Grokipedia, and, uh, they've been designed to fight back against their perceived woke content on, on the internet and of course in AI.

Actually, it's one of the fascinating attributes of large language models that they seem to be progressive in outlook, which something which of course enrages the conservative right.

My theory, Philip, is that it's been trained on a lot of work by academics, and many academics tend to be on the progressive side, so that's where they've sort of got their views from.
