Grindhouse Releasing

Um, out of the blue he says [laughs] he wrote me an email and he says, and I don't even know him, and he said, "Look, I...

Last year you covered..." So, so Bob Murawski and Sylvester Stallone's son, Sage Stallone, started a video company 30 years ago, and Sage passed away unfortunately, but it's called Grindhouse Releasing.

And they put out Cannibal Ferox, or Fer- Ferro, however you pronounce it, on Laserdisc, and that was their first release.

It came with a barf bag and it was a beautiful [laughs]-

So I get this email a couple weeks ago from Bob Murawski, and he goes, "Dear Rob, you know, I'm a big fan of, of your show, and I, I can't thank you enough for the great coverage you gave to The Beyond." And he goes, "I would really like to send you our new box set of Cannibal Holocaust."

[laughs]

Which is one of the most, you know, notorious Grindhouse movies ever, and some people would object to it 'cause there was actual animal cruelty that was filmed, and it's basically one of the first found footage movies.

But it doesn't even come out till November.

There's also going to be a November 27th Triple Shock at The Gap.

This is a partnership with Grindhouse Releasing.

They're doing Scream Bloody Murder, Hollywood 90028, and a favorite of Alex DeSanto's, Scum of the Earth.

And yours, yeah.

We'll never find it.

And Greg was like, oh, you'll find it.

And he was a great cheerleader, right? So while we were working on this commentary, I'd also gotten involved with, interestingly enough, the commentary for Grindhouse Releasing's Hollywood 90028, where I did a commentary on the locations, primarily the locations in that film.

And there's a segment in that film where the main character is taking the model that he's just picked up at the photo shoot home.

So I went to the, uh...

So Grindhouse is releasing a 4K fully uncut, uncensored version of Cannibal Holocaust, and they screened it at our local Beverly theater, um, sho- if anybody is listening to this and lives in Las Vegas and you have not been to the Beverly Theater, um, every, A, they do all kinds of, um, independent cinema, and they do all kinds of, uh...

Man, my computer keeps going to sleep, 'cause I have not changed my sleep settings on it yet.

Um, but they do all kinds of, you know, independent film, uh, major release.

Mm-hmm

... uh, at its heart.

And it, I don't know if the- if they're gonna do it on the new Grindhouse release.

I imagine they will, because they did it on the straight Blu-ray release and the DVD release, where you can watch a version where they do not harm animals at all.

As, like, a teenager, too, you know? Not, like, as a fucking, like, two-year-old, you know? That would have been incredible.

But, yeah, I mean, Maniac, to Bisho's point, a lot of 4K restorations for, like, these old, like, Grindhouse movies look like dog shakers.

This one right here, though, Blue Underground did the 4K, and it looks fucking amazing.

Wow.

I have that one upstairs, too.

Haven't seen it for quite some time.

The Grindhouse releasing put that out.

Recently announced it's coming out on 4K, too.
