This is a Grindhouse film that wants to be good.
Ryan NewhouseHOST
4:28
It wants to someday be good.
Ify TiffyHOST

It didn't drink its milk and it didn't grow up and never had it.
Brant BumpersGUEST

But at the very little it was for a black audience.
Brant BumpersGUEST
3:39
And I said and they were I said those Grindhouse movies.
Brant BumpersGUEST
3:42
He's like, oh, they heard the term Grindhouse.
Brant BumpersGUEST
3:44
I said a lot of those Grindhouse movies were black exploitation flicks.
Sinister CinemaHOST

I don't know if I have one that's that low budget, but I do have, since you were talking about Grindhouse, and I think the proliferation of Grindhouse in the 70s had a lot to do with the loosening of... sort of the hollywood system of sense of self-censorship and the idea that gory movies could not only make it into a movie theater but they can make a big profit these were not little tiny things that might be able to like keep a drive-in movie theater alive for a couple of weeks but these could be hits um i feel like there's the the other corner of that is the gimmick movie And that's movies that are like 3D or the films of William Castle where a skeleton would fly out over the audience.
William BibbianiHOST
61:44
And one of my very favorite gimmick movies, a movie that has a pretty interesting gimmick.
William BibbianiHOST
61:51
Like one I'm actually surprised more people haven't played with.
StuHOST
51:12
Yeah, that sounds interesting.
StuHOST
51:14
Kind of sounds like those Grindhouse movies from the early

David Garrett Jr.HOST

Brake is superb, starting the film with this eerie monologue that he has.
David Garrett Jr.HOST
9:23
I would say Molar, David Erie, Lou Temple – torsten vogues and e.g daily they're all distinct among the other killers with the rest of the castle and the rules effectively so finally regarding the filmmaking aspects i just think it's generally well made zombie successfully captures the eeriness of the grimy dirty complex which feels appropriately contained yet spacious somewhat like saw the cinematography and framing effectively capture the air and the practical effects are solid while bloody and gory at times it needed more otherwise the music and sound design effectively build the atmosphere with a standout tone like song that felt inspired by the cockroach story and creep show So in conclusion, 31 is an enjoyable Grindhouse-style horror film with a strong concept, solid atmospheric presentation, and memorable performances from Brake and Phillips.
David Garrett Jr.HOST
10:03
While it lacks depth in its story and struggles with uneven pacing towards the end, the film nevertheless succeeds as an homage to Grindhouse cinema.
David Garrett Jr.HOST
10:11
offers a generous dose of visceral beauty intense set pieces and classic 1970s novelistic horror flair that will surely satisfy dedicated fans of zombies unique and signature style so my rating here then after the second watch of 31 i give a 6.5 out of 10.
JacksonHOST
47:33
Please.
JacksonHOST
47:34
But yeah, I had no idea before Dave brought it up that the commercials were by different directors, like Grindhouse style.
JacksonHOST
47:40
That's so cool.
JacksonHOST
47:41
I love that.
DaveHOST
48:07
yeah.
JacksonHOST
48:09
That's fun.
JacksonHOST
48:10
But, yeah, I would have loved to have contributed to the – if they were doing Grindhouse style, like a found footage Halloween thing, I would have loved to have done one of those.
JacksonHOST
48:18
I think that would be fun.

Do you, do you, have you ever seen that Portable Grindhouse book? And it's, like, it's a VHS-size book and it's just, it's all the shit you would find, you know, Bob Smith's White Tail Masters and it's like, you know, a half-hour hunting video.
Professor DegreeHOST

I think The Grindhouse Gutter episodes are usually a little bit longer, and they're usually 20, 25 minutes.
JoshHOST
4:23
So most of our stuff over there isn't quite that long.
JoshHOST
4:26
This one's, this one's gonna be, uh, longer in length, I think.
