Carney's line was that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario, then, now, and always.

And Ontario's premier Doug Ford went further than a tweet, a two-story billboard on the Grimsby shoreline.

Lake Ontario, now and always.

He called the whole thing something out of Saturday Night Live.

Lynn, I hope you'll forgive me.

I have to rush you through a little bit.

The nominations window for the 2026 election has now closed, which means it's time to meet the candidates.

Four people have put their names forward to be the next mayor of Grimsby.

The winner of this election will be responsible for leading council in making the choices that impact Grimsby's future for the next four years and beyond.

They will also be the sole representative of Guernsey at the Niagara Regional Council.

It's an important and difficult role, and we thank all the candidates for putting themselves forward.

Council went back and forth with residents and it's a good plan.

The majority of the density is in the GO train station area up to 28 stories.

So it's going to be a vibrant community similar to Grimsby on the Lake.

Meanwhile, across the border, Ontario Premier Doug Ford answered Trump's Lake America decree with a billboard-sized message on the Canadian shoreline, quotes, Lake Ontario, now and always, as Canadian leaders met the move with ridicule rather than outrage.

Wearing a Team Canada soccer jersey, Ford unveiled the sign near Grimsby, Ontario, and posed for photographs.

The 24 by 12 foot sign stands on six foot legs, putting its top about 18 feet above the ground, roughly two stories high.

The message is repeated in French.

So that was a big step in moving that forward because now we have the definition of what has to be kind of put to paper to move this forward.

so that occurred last summer over the course of this year we've been focused on now taking that next step a request for proposals went out to consultants to assist us in the next steps over the spring of this year and we're in the process of working through that right now so i think residents will hear a lot more about this in the coming months once that assignment comes out and is awarded but it is moving ahead and it's something we heard very consistently is a big priority for the town here, but also for Grimsby and West Lincoln and all of West Niagara, because I think everybody would agree that getting trucks relocated to a more appropriate crossing of the escarpment, a road that goes north-south across the escarpment, is something that's definitely worth considering.

So we'll be working away on that, and we'll probably have a lot more to share in the coming months.

That sounds like a talk of the town, T.

So here in Niagara, the work that we do with the province on GO, we talked about the need for partnership.

And so yes, GO service is delivered by Metrolinx, but Niagara region with our local area municipality partners have been directly involved in developing our GO station strategy.

And so the region has had a large role in advancing the stations at Niagara Falls, at St. Catharine's, and at Grimsby with discussion of a future station in Beamsville to potentially come as well.

And so that's a multi-level exercise between a number of level of governments.

And he's taking them to the biggest poultry show in Canada, the annual Ontario Poultry Breeders Exhibition in Grimsby between Hamilton and St. Catharines.

You know, there's a lot of prep work that's kind of gone in leading up to today, right? Conditioning birds for show starts, you know, six months ago, right? And oftentimes, kind of as soon as these guys hatch, it's important that we get them off to a good start, really take a lot of good care and do everything we can.

uh to to kind of reach their full potential as far as growth rates um as i get a little bit older doing the extra little things with keeping them clean getting them out on grass kind of conditioning them keeping their feathers looking good as we get a little bit closer to the show things such as washing them extra little critiques and fitting to kind of get them looking the best that we can

That's my plan, too.

It's now Friday morning.

I've arrived at the exhibition grounds in Grimsby, Ontario.

The parking lot is filling up with trucks and trailers filled with birds, license plates from six different provinces and eight states.

We decided Beamsville because that's where her family's originally from.

Beamsville, Grimsby, St. Catharines, the Hamilton area.

That's where she's from.

And that was great because that allowed me to almost have family again.

It's 100% about geography.

You know, I live about, from my office here right now in, in, uh, in Grimsby, Ontario.

I'm probably less than a half an hour to the border, and I've got three or four border crossings here in Niagara that go, that take goods and services.

So, what's easier? Is it easier for me to sell a product into Buffalo, Niagara Falls, New York, or to try and sell a product into China, or try to sell a, a product into Brussels or Germany? And so, the reality is we've got tons of border towns...
