Grigory Rodchenkov

So that was my first opening experience of sport investigation, where sporting guys meet the problem of having too much money around.

Uh, and then the following year, as a follow-up to that, we'd named in our first investigation the arch enemy at the time was a guy called Dr. Rodchenkov in 2015.

And in 2016, he defected to the West and blew the whistle on what happened at the Sochi Olympics.

And it was from there I got involved in picking up the story and, uh, getting involved with Dr. Rodchenkov.

And we were saying b- just before we came on, came on air and started recording this, that if you watch the Icarus documentary about it, there's four seconds of you on, uh, at a press conference that you're in, in, in vision.

Enough for me to claim that I've been in an Oscar-winning movie, so-

Uh, some fantastic, you know, s- the, the, uh, international athletics case, a number of cases I've been involved in, boxing, uh, and that sort of thing, all started by good investigative journalism.

Our job as investigator is to then come in and look at where the evidential opportunities might lie, and that might be easy or hard.

He attempts to enlist the help of Don Catlin, a prominent figure in the United States' anti-doping community.

But when Catlin backs out, Fogel turns to Grigory Rodchenkov, the head of Russia's anti-doping laboratory.

Rodchenkov, a charismatic and enigmatic figure, agrees to assist Vogel, setting the stage for a documentary that quickly evolves from a personal narrative into a geopolitical thriller.

As the film progresses, the focus shifts dramatically.
