After months of controversy, the federal regulator shut down a plasma center in Winnipeg.

Health Canada suspended Grifols' Taylor Avenue Center's license to collect plasma effective immediately.

It's where twenty-two-year-old Rodiat Alibeti had a fatal cardiac arrest while donating.

Health Canada says Grifols didn't take enough action, even though it warned the company that it needed to shape up to keep its license.

The for-profit Spanish company owns seventeen paid plasma centers in Canada.

Health Canada has suspended the license of a Grifols plasma collection site in Winnipeg.

The agency cited concerns about the location's quality management system.

The Spain-based company operates 17 centers in Canada.

It has come under public scrutiny in recent months after two plasma donors died in October 2025 and January 2026.

Grifols voluntarily paused its plasma donation collection last month.

Health Canada said it will work with the company as it tries to restart operations and put in place corrective action plans.

It's day one of BC's election campaign, and David Eby has spent much of it defending his decision to call a snap election in the first place.

But again, you can only say, I always say, you know, the 2000, there was a, in the 2021 round, it's been like, oh, it's already been five years.

You know, what's going on? I say, hey, there's this, like one of the biggest, You know, biotech companies in Spain, it's in Barcelona, it's called Grifols, right? So had you invested in Grifols, you know, in the public market, when you put the money in Eurex, you will have lost 70%.
