Griffith Park

including but not limited to this is all part of like a little montage set to one way or another.

So including but not limited to a woman impaled, a woman impaled in the shoulder by a tree branch, two men fencing basically with their metal detectors, a man pinned by the Griffith Park bear statue he was digging under and an explosive incident with a man trying to dig with an excavator.

And none of them found the treasure, so X did not mark the spot, actually.

Then we have ants in his pants.

So, uh, yeah it's a

place of many wonders i've been out there i've explored uh particularly up in the hills there above hollywood uh around griffith park observatory that area's up in some of those canyons there's some pockets of weirdness up there i love it

oh yeah definitely um we had touched on the other night uh speaking of of some of these hills down here in in uh in the la area um Yeah, I grew up right under the Hollywood Hills, actually, and always had a view from our apartment of actually the Hollywood sign.

So I would look out my window a lot, and that's what I would see is the Hollywood sign.

And just it's such a sprawling area too.

And so storied and so much history there.

Talked about like the hiding man of Griffith Park and all that when I made the video about that.

Dug into the legends and stuff there just at Las Villas in that area.

I have a puddle of piss on my feet.

I've been living right next to Griffith Park for a long time, next to a lot of coyotes, and I kind of hang with them sometimes.

Did you ever see a mountain lion?

I've never seen a mountain lion.

No, and I also was standing on a log one time in Griff Park, and this rattlesnake just comes slithering out.

And that's when I realized they're just fucking everywhere.

I never, I saw, I've only seen one in Griffith Park and it was, somebody had killed it.

It was just on the trail and somebody like stomped his head.

[laughs] You were witnessing the lingering, stomping legacy of one of the strangest military experiments in American history.

The last of the original military camels died at Griffith Park in Los Angeles in 1934 at the age of 80.

Wow.

But because of all the camels that had been born after, camels continued to be spotted in the desert even after that.

He was walking on a trail.

So I asked Jeff Sikich, the biologist for the National Park Service, I said, "Jeff, do you have any trails where the cats walk and you can see, like, the lights of LA in the distance?" And he said, "No." And I said, "What about the trail above Malibu? Can you see Santa Monica and all the lights in the bay behind?" "No." He kept saying, "No, no, no." And I had thought about what I could maybe get, and I said to him, "To really tell the story of urban wildlife and make a difference would be if we could get a mountain lion with the Hollywood sign." And he looked at me like I was crazy because he said, "There are no mountain lions in Griffith Park."

But I knew in the past that there had been.

And it turns out, then I learned something new, that at, there is all these mountains and valleys where the houses are just hanging on.

And the cat walks down at the bottom of it.

And one of 'em, the closest one to Los Angeles, goes right into Griffith Park.

Mm.

Um, it is easy to forget that there's still plenty of flora and fauna here in this great big city.

And, uh, and Griffith Park, for example, is bigger than Central Park in New York.

Yeah.

There is plenty of place for, um, for nature to live alongside us.
