Griffin Newman

I mean,

also Griffin Newman shows up in the third act.

And I, like many people, did the Leo pointing at the screen.

I was like, hey, that's Griffin Newman.

You know, and I was like alone, 2 p.m. on a Thursday looking around like, hey, that's my guy.

That's my friend.

And then, of course, we have Zach Cherry towards the end of the film who plays one of the umbrella scientists.

And then we have this sort of gaggle of scientists, one of which includes Griffin Newman, of all people.

Which I think really is when I suddenly was like, okay, Krager, like, fucking relax, dude.

Like, what are we doing here? Like, this is when it really started perking up to me that, like, oh, this dude knows too much.

Like, not to say that Griffin Newman is not a great actor.

I think he's great.

He's a funny guy.

But it feels like his casting as an umbrella scientist feels somewhat against type, maybe.

The George Lucas Talk Show presents a pre- and post-Star Wars double bill of Akira Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress and Mel Brooks' Spaceballs.

These are two films I don't believe have ever been screened back-to-back as a double bill.

And the movie again kind of shifts back into a kind of clear comic register.

And then one of them is Griffin Newman, our friend.

Yeah.

Um, our [laughs] Dakota's the blank check.

I thought the two leads had a lot of good chemistry.

If it has been on your radar, it might be because one of the executive producers on it is Griffin Newman's dad.

It's one of the movies he made when he was working with Bob Altman.

And I think his name appears at the very top of this movie.

Was I in a really bad place when we watched it or something? Cause you know, sometimes you're like just too fucking, you're having a bad day and the movie just doesn't make it into your brain.

You get, you get Griffin Newman.

Yeah.

A little bit.

It's, it's, it's the length when I'm talking to you, it's the language we use off mic.

So my brain is like,

I, cause I constantly referenced that Griffin Newman didn't like a star is born because he had like IBS and IBS flare up that day or something.

There was something that happened to him and he kept saying he had problems with the movie.
