Gregory Porter is an example to me of someone whose heritage is gospel.

His mother was a preacher.

His song, Take Me to the Alley, is like a beautiful song, and it's been the way that I was introduced to him.

I don't care what he's singing about.

It just does.

So if it had to be on a desert island, as much as I love gospel music, if I had only one album, it would probably be Gregory Porter.

don't know which one was like the most like like wow to me but one that really stands out and that i think i think about a lot is when i played with gregory porter because i wasn't the way that happened is i wasn't supposed to play the song i played with gregory porter i was supposed to play the the song after which is like i think it was like a blues or something and that was with a drummer but And the pianist who was supposed to show up, he hit them up and he was like, hey, I'm running late.

And so then they came to me and they were like, yo, you want to play this? Or they were kind of like, yeah, you have to play this.

And they didn't give them a choice.

And it was the rhythm section was just me and Christian.

Gregory Porter announces Glasgow SEC Armadillo show on UK tour.

Grammy-winning jazz and soul star Gregory Porter will perform in Glasgow next summer.

The US vocalist will bring his acclaimed live show to the SEC Armadillo on June 27, 2027 as part of a six-date UK tour.

The tour also includes three nights at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Porter last performed in the UK in 2025 and will return with a set list spanning his full career.
