Not much music in this until the end, but it's pretty good still, I think.

I appreciate that.

Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez were film students at the University of Florida and wanted to make a horror movie.
S
16:31Sean PryorHOST
The duo felt that documentaries on mythical legends and ghosts were scarier than most horror movies, so the filmmakers, along with producing partners Robin Cowie and Greg Hale, formed Hacks and Films.

and went on to write the film.
The Blair Witch Project and Beyond: Eduardo Sanchez
E
11:44Eduardo SánchezGUEST
So, you know, we were really careful as far as like getting our hopes up, but this was like a really crazy idea that Dan and I had come up with.
E
11:52Eduardo SánchezGUEST
And every time we pitched it to somebody, they were like, Oh my God, you know, their eyes lit up and, Greg was like, Greg Hale, the producer, the main producer, like production producer, was the first person to get on board.
E
12:05Eduardo SánchezGUEST
And he was, you know, he started putting his own money into it.
E
12:08Eduardo SánchezGUEST
And, you know, Greg was, you know, kind of, you know, was pretty much at the same, you know, level as Dan and me.

And, you know, and, um, the, the, you know, so, so, so I'm, You know, for me, it's like I love doing that because it's like if anybody, you know, I'm good at it.
E
33:38Eduardo SánchezGUEST
You know, I know found footage, but I really love the innovation of like the new filmmakers.
E
33:45Eduardo SánchezGUEST
And when Greg and I, Greg Hale and I did our segment in VHS, too, that was really cool to see like these younger filmmakers like taking what we did on Blair Witch and kind of just like, saying, all right, that was that, but now this is now, you know, and just the ingenuity and the creative, you know, spark that that kind of ignited in us these other filmmakers you know and that's just such a such a cool you know thing to have people um you know not not copying you but being inspired like i said before with you know you're you're something that you did so many years ago and just seeing how cool things are but you know but yeah i definitely keep in touch you know keep um you know, watch found footage, even, even like, you know, I go on Netflix or prime or whatever, and just watch like just random ones that I, you know, nobody's ever heard of.
E
34:38Eduardo SánchezGUEST
And, you know, I just, you know, some, some are great and some are really bad.
He Dared to Say the Bell Witch Doesn’t Exist
M

Oh, yeah.
M

And the producer, one of them was Greg Hale.
M
50:01Mark GriffinHOST
He actually attended Western for a year.
M
50:04Mark GriffinHOST
So he may have become familiar with the Bellwitch legend through there.

So they wanted to create a movie that combined the styles of both.
E
26:50Eric PeacockHOST
And in order to produce the project, they, along with Greg, Greg Hale, Robin Cowie and Michael Manello, started what they call Haxan Films, which they namesake for the company is based off of Benjamin Christensen's 1922 silent documentary horror film Haxan, a.k.a. Witchcraft Through the Ages.
E

It's on Criterion.
E
27:08Eric PeacockHOST
It's a pretty cool old silent film.

That is something interesting I'm going to get to in a minute, how much they fucked with the cast during this, the making of this, to make it... all the more real so donahue had never operated a camera before and she had to spend two days in a crash course and she said she modeled her character after director she had once worked with noting that her character self-assured noting her character self-assuredness when everything went as planned and how she completely falls apart and gets confused when things go into crisis mode so the act which is that's kind of a really like i imagine that director that she worked with seeing that and being like you so the actors were giving given clues to their next location through messages hidden inside of 35 millimeter film cans left in milk crates that they found with satellite navigation units they were given individual instructions to help improvise the action of the day.
E
35:05Eric PeacockHOST
The teeth that she finds were actually obtained from a Maryland dentist for use as human remains in the film.
E
35:12Eric PeacockHOST
And then influenced by producer Greg Hale's memories of military training in which enemy soldiers hunt for a trainee through wild terrain for three days, the directors moved the characters a long way during the day and would harass them by night and deprive them of food to get them cranky.
E
35:26Eric PeacockHOST
So like, when you see them going at each other like one of the things that they had to do and i don't remember i might have said this later on if i did i'll skip it but josh apparently josh the actor who plays josh was the one who was like really fucking going after heather and they had to like cut that down so it didn't look like just like two guys ganging up on the woman they had to kind of cut that because they wanted to be mike that was the antagonistic one more so and then josh like naturally

Apparently, it's open to really, really incredibly low money, but I think it sounds pretty, pretty interesting.

And it looks like it's a big snake film, so I'm gonna have to, I'm gonna have to get the trailer across to, uh, to Vix, see what she thinks Okay, The Blair Witch Project co-creator Eduardo Sanchez and producer Greg Hale return to their found footage horror roots with The Influencer Project, now playing in theaters.

But when an obsessive stalker begins tracking her movements, she must confront the terror and reclaim her power.

So the Influencer Project is from the visions of Eduardo Sanchez, co-creator of the Blair Witch Project, and producer Greg Hale, who I believe also worked on the book with the Blair Witch Project.

um so british beauty and lifestyle influencer chiara king leads this twisted tale inspired by her own experiences with stalkers bringing a chillingly realistic edge to the story a hugely popular online star she's already amassed more than 4.2 million followers on tick tock and 1.4 million on instagram film was the directorial debut of mike and eyebrow so we've got a bit of a meta thing going on there.
