Greg Gaines

I definitely think that's where the run game is going to be won or lost for the Houston Texans.

Can they lean on those guys and can the Buffalo D-line respond adequately? They do have Greg Gaines at nose tackle now, an actual true nose tackle.

You're probably going to be looking at a down front of a mix of Deion Walker, Greg Gaines, Ed Oliver, Landon Jackson as your primary four guys.

And up front, TJ Sanders sprinkled in throughout.

So I think you're going to have an opportunity against some of these more undersized guys, especially in the A-gap specifically, to be able to move bodies and get to that second level.

I just – I'm not ready for it.

But you brought up a good point about, like, the run defense, and I feel like this is where Greg Gaines comes into play.

I feel like we are sleeping on Greg Gaines and the ability of being able to be more flexible, especially on rundowns.

You don't need Deion Walker to do that, which – For whatever reason, the Bills waited until mid-August to get a true nose tackle.

Maybe they had been talking to Greg Gaines all offseason, and he's just like, I don't want to go sleep in dorm rooms.

I don't need preseason.

I've played over 100 games in the NFL.

But ultimately, I'm looking at shutting down the run game, especially between the tackles, especially the Ed Oliver, the TJ Sanders, and Dion Walker.

What can they do? Is Greg Gaines part of the mix? Can we shut down the run and can we shut down Nico Collins?

Can we do that? Indeed.

And so I look at this defensive line and I see Dion Walker.

And also Shaq Thompson, a candidate to overcome one of those players in the starting lineup as well.

At defensive tackle, Greg Gaines was listed as Dion Walker's backup over Dwayne Carter.

And that's somewhat of a surprise as Carter was A former third round pick of the Bills and somebody that gained weight this offseason trying to force his way into the conversation as a depth piece at nose tackle.

But Gaines signed by the team in free agency and really impressed in limited time on the field during camp.

I like the players that they have here to put in.

Um, even Dwayne Carter, like doesn't scare me if he's playing like, you know, 15% of the snaps, 20% of the snaps, but like, I like Greg Gaines and when he brings to the table, I like, so I just, I like this group, like you said, potential wise, but like we haven't seen, seen Dion Walker do this, you know, snap in, snap out over the course of a week, much less full season.

And so that, um, There's a lot of question marks there about how this is going to work over the entire 17 game schedule plus playoffs.

Sure.

My questions, my concerns, I should say is TJ Sanders any good? That's a concern.

I don't know.

Is he any good? There's a lot of question marks beyond, I think, Deion Walker and Ed Oliver and even Greg Gaines in there, because I think we know what we're going to get from him.

That's not to say that Sanders and Jackson can't be better than Greg Gaines.

Uh, defense, uh, Ed Oliver, who's back, we talked about, and then Dwayne Carter, n- don't know much about him.

Greg Gaines, they're not really high on as a backup, uh, interior D lineman.

But Deion Walker, second-year guy, supposedly standing to benefit from playing a more of a nose in this three-four.

T.J. Sanders, uh, Anthony wasn't super high on.

Um, so they got two pretty good defensive linemen in Oliver and Walker, and then they're not super high, maybe potentially on Sanders.

And then the backups, Dwayne Carter, Greg Gaines, and then Landon Jackson's improved.

He was more of an edge, but now he's a tackle.

And, you know, talking with Anthony, he's basically saying like pretty much like a majority of the guys on their defense are question marks as to if they will fit in this new scheme.

Sanders, Greg Rousseau.

I mean, those are your, your front line, right? Greg Gaines, Landon Jackson, Michael Hoyt, Duane Carter will, will be the, I guess the, the reserve pieces that will be coming in to kind of give us some, some juice at the end of the day, right? On the edge, Bradley Chubb and our guy Greg Rousseau.

T.J. Parker will obviously sprinkle in our first round draft pick, and, uh, Caleb Elarms-Orr has been battling it out with Dorian Williams.

I think they gave it to Dorian Williams based on seniority.
