What, from your perspective, what happened with Greg Dortch? That came out of nowhere.

Dude, I tried to shake down a couple of coaches about it and nobody was saying anything.

I thought for sure he would be a guy that would be here just based on his connection to Petzig.

Is it s- is it inevitable that Dortch gets elevated this weekend? I feel like it's inevitable.

I don't know.

Unless you do the, unless you do the, the, the, the middle school thing where when they punt it you just say, "Fire, fire," or whatever and, and, and just everybody s- runs away from the football and runs to the sideline.

Well, I, I, I was about to wonder or ask the question, like, could they instead wanna dress an extra what? What's the, what's the case? You don't wanna dress him because you wanna dress an extra what? Lineman because the lineman got battered last time around? Or is it an, an extra receiver? If it's a receiver, then Dortch comes up, right? He, he can do, he can do both those things.

Um, you know, somebody else on, on a pass rusher? Like, what, what else would you add? Like, if someone in the secondary, i- if you're nursing injuries, is it not gonna happen because Ty Johnson's game time, you're bringing up Frank Gore, something like that? I, I mean, I would think Dortch would come up, but if you have to massage other positions, that could make it tougher.

Ooh, yeah.

They took, like, five running backs or something?

Greg Dortch, Greg Dortch did not make the team.

It's just a, you know, the play, like it's just a new concept on things that are already working in today's modern, uh, NFL.

yeah ultimately the tape doesn't lie right the they they're pro there's pro scouting for a reason and it's not just to scout guys that might be free agents as to you know teams are doing month weeks and months in advance scouting the upcoming opponent they they have play they have scouts go to their games to watch the way they interact on the sideline to maybe i was gonna say steal steal signals like probably happens at the nfl level too it's not illegal um Now, we'll say in the case of someone like Greg Dortch, maybe there's a little bit more of an added advantage because there isn't a lot of tape out on Drew Petzing and the Lions.

Maybe that helps the Bills get a little bit of a head start on preparing for the Lions.

Tay Martin, surprisingly, with Lucky Jackson, Dominic Lovett, and no surprises, Tom Kennedy on the practice squad.

People kind of make a big deal about Martin making the team over Dortch.

Kind of surprising to me, too, because Dortch, he looked fast.

We should have fast guys around.

But you know, hopefully the three main guys remain healthy and we'll just see the others rotating in and out throughout the season.

And now with Tyson out, they only kept four and two of them are still rookies.

And they're day three rookies on top of that.

uh barian brown is a guy that i liked for the lions as um kind of like a you know they went with kendrick law but like barian was a i'm sorry yeah barian brown was a guy who i thought hey, he can be wide receiver six, and he can be like a slot guy, kind of like Dortch.

Too valuable as a starting nickel, in my opinion.

Let Ray Davis handle it or elevate Greg Dortch.

Thoughts?

I think that the bills might be stuck with the Alfred for a little while because when if you want to put George on the team, you're taking somebody else off that you've already decided you want to be a part of the 53.

D. Alfred is fine.

He's not going to blow you away.

But really, neither is Greg Dortch.

I mean, there's a reason Greg Dortch was available.

The key to this game, in my opinion, will be the special teams and punt returners, as Steve Tasker knows how important that is.

He, Alfred, is slated as the number one, but I won't be surprised if Dortch, is a call-up to the game.

I think he'll end up in the number one after week

two.

Yeah, and it could this year.

I'm with you.

I think Dortch could be a call-up, no question.

But I feel good about D. Alford.

He averages eight yards per return, so it's not like he's a showstopper at the punt return position.

So I think at the end of the day, you'll see Greg Dortch taking over as the Bills punt returner, at least somewhere at the start of the season.

And then we'll kind of see how things progress as the year goes along.

Defensively at the linebacker position, Dorian Williams listed as the starter over Caleb Elarms or the rookie.
