When someone has a really clear pre-existing comedic persona that you can then put up against the immovable brick wall that is Greg Davies, and the trickster god that is Alex Horne.

And it was perfect.

Ayoade is a very special thing because, like Manzuka, he has a very clear comedic persona and game that he has been perfecting for 20-ish years now.

And sending that, and I say this with a lot of affection, that stone-faced robot pedantic man against, you know, world's angriest teacher Greg Davies, and also robot pedantic man Alex Horne, and just having them go at it is a recipe for magic.

And already, I, you know what? The fact that in the first episode he's already called them fascists-

to have to go somewhere, aren't they? Something's going to happen and they all go on a journey somewhere.

I mean, he was a great Welsh comedian who did a BBC series about social anxiety that he suffers from.

And I think also Greg Davies, his fellow Welshman, suffers from that.

There's something about the performance your controller you are in control yes that's exactly it yeah yeah if you're not doing and particularly you're doing crowd work basically it's you're able to have you're able to say the stuff that you want and get these sort of like you know hopefully you know laughter reactions from the from the people in the crowd and you know if you choose to do a bit of crowd work that's up to you whereas yeah like the sort of like the social setting is is a different beast um and so yeah i think that's it's for many people it is strange because because so there are some people who are you know, I mean, I think socially anxious and they have performance, performance anxiety and they, they sort of, they don't distinguish between the two.
