So w- what, what are your, what's your read on what we get out of Brooks this week?

Yeah.

Canales on September 2nd said, quote, "I'm very optimistic he'll be available for week one," end quote.

And at, when we got this quote, I looked back into the database that I have, uh, on actionable Coach Speak, and Dave Canales not, not that reliable overall on injury Coach Speak.

But when he has used the word optimistic, he has a stellar track record of these guys playing, and he has one instance of saying very optimistic, and that was Rob Hunt back in early January before their playoff game, and Hunt ended up suiting up for that game.

So that's pretty nice.

And then, yeah, we got these comments today from Canales.

Uh, all right, you also had thoughts on Mike McDaniel, uh, talking about Ladd McConkie.

But I want to hear your thoughts on some of these large risers.

Yeah, there's several of these guys who I like quite a bit, even at these new prices.

I think Pat Bryant is still probably a little bit too cheap.

I think that's going to be a very good offense this year with Davis Webb as their new play caller, but it's still basically a Sean Payton.

They've been very, very big on Pat Bryant.

I am one of the people who believes that he could very much eat into Cortland Sutton's work.

Not even by the end of the season, but like he already kind of started doing it last last season.

Is the hype enough that you're willing to buy Terrence Ferguson even at this new price of 156?

I think there's some risk with Skadaboo, but if he has the type of role he did last year, he's going to absolutely crush a fifth-round ADP, and he can beat a fifth-round ADP even if he doesn't have as much receiving as he did last year.

Yeah, really good in the pass game.

I think...

It also carries a little bit of weight that this guy is like best friends with with Jackson Dart, the franchise quarterback there.

He's a hammer at the goal line.

He just like your team has a better chance of winning when he's on the field.

And the stuff that Harbaugh had said back in June, like that is that is true.

Ben Johnson had some comments on his year.

So that makes him a much easier click, uh, to your point.

Yeah, and the way that they talk about Caleb Douglas, like, there's a little hesitancy there.

And, and, and you know, the, the, this depth chart that they put out, I think we might have touched on before how a lot of these depth charts that initially come out, the coaches have nothing to do with those.

Like Mike McCarthy, they asked him about a depth chart a couple weeks ago.

He was like, "Talk to our PR guy.

That, [laughs] he's the one that made that depth chart." But then Hafley, when he was asked about, like, um, Caleb Douglas, he's, he's listed as a starter on the depth chart, sounded very much like Hafley had a hand in, in that.

Now, this was before Chris Bell was, like, really back at practice.

[laughs] Um, you had, you had a note on Carnell Tate as a, as a final receiver here, actually.

Mm-hmm

... coaches and, and kind of quickly realized, well, hey, hindsight is 20/20.

I could go back and I could just look at everything that these coaches have said.

I can, I can, uh, go through all their press conferences, either on YouTube or the transcripts, and I can write down... or, or take every piece of actionable coach speak, put it in a database, grade it as true or false, and build these profiles for each coach to see how reliable they are.

And initially, I was thinking, "Okay, they'll be either honest across the board or, you know, they'll be dishonest across the board," but pretty quickly found out when I started with Pete Carroll that, oh, some of these guys are, are, are very honest in one department, like injuries, right? Uh, but then they are, uh, completely unreliable when it comes to player usage and, and workload, which Zac Taylor is actually the opposite.

He, he is completely unreliable on, on injury coach speak, which, which he knows.

He, he has [laughs] he has admitted this, that he's really bad with, with the injury coach speak, but he is, he's pretty good with the, with the player usage and workload coach speak.

At least bigger and more athletic, like, yeah.

Steichen on August 11th said, "Tyler Warren looks phenomenal.

He's having a hell of a camp right now.

Just trying to get the match-ups with him any way we can, find different ways to use him, and go from there.

He's just a tremendous player that we try to get him the ball any way we can." And this has been what Steichen is saying, uh, pretty much this entire off-season.

You know, we got this huge drumbeat on him, uh, during his rookie season last year.

So it was Lane.

Right

... you, you could've been playing Michael Wilson at X, like, 30% of the time, and been moving Marvin Harrison Jr. around a little bit.

But, but Petzing never did that.

It seems like Mike LaFleur is very willing, uh, to do this.

The, they're, they're not super concerned about the, the drops in, in practice.

You know, LaFleur talking about how like, like, whatever, man.

Like, sure, you guys talk about that stuff and it'll go viral or whatever, but, like, you don't talk about on the very next play he, he, he makes a nice catch.

Mm.

Aranda Gadsden and whether or not we're going to win these bets.

Yeah, I think this ADP is being pushed down because of these camp reports that he is kind of third on the depth chart in terms of who he's playing with.

He's playing with backup quarterbacks out there.

They actually asked Jim Harbaugh the other day about the tight end room.

They said, what do you think of David Njoku and Aranda Gadsden? And he said, so far, so good, really good.

And then he says, Charlie Kohler David Aranda, that is a really strong group.

And then he threw in Scott Matlock as well, who's kind of a hybrid fullback tight end guy for them.

Give me your take just from the sort of coach speak analysis.

And then, uh, what are your thoughts on kind of how Diggs fits in, you know, with McLaurin and, and Okonkwo and just Diggs' outlook?

outlook?So Dan Quinn on August 7th was asked, "What does Diggs bring to the offense? What does he still do at a higher level?" Quinn said, "When you see him work inside as a slot player, he's got great feel.

He's a great competitor.

He's somebody certainly that can move the chains." They also asked Quinn whether he anticipates any kind of a pitch count, uh, this year like Diggs was on last year in New England.

Quinn said, "We haven't gone through that far yet to see packages, what we play, how we feature it.

We just know he's in great shape.

We're ready to start building him in." Uh, they also asked Quinn what stood out about Stefon Diggs when Quinn played against him in the, uh, in the past.

But go ahead.

There's like 25 people banging on this drum, and, uh, we actually ...

Yeah, we got a trifecta.

We got the general manager, we got the offensive coordinator, and we got the head coach this past week all really blowing up Luther Burden.

Ryan Poles on July 28th said that, "If there's a guy I'm really excited about, it's Luther Burden, just because of how much he's grown from the day he walked in the building.

I mean, we just don't have Dolphins receivers, so if either of these rookies could matter, like, they, they would be good, uh, in the final rounds of drafts for sure.

Let's do it, yeah.

Uh, got, got stuff on basically the entire receiver room.

Uh, Jesse Minter was asked, uh, why he thinks Zay Flowers could con- could continue to take a big jump this year, how big of a focal point does Minter wanna make him in the offense.

And, uh, Minter said, "He's everything that you want.

When you watch him in practice, you realize that he has a very, very unique skill set for what people would say is a smaller receiver.

He's twitchy enough, explosive enough.

He's willing to make tough catches.

Mm.

Where are you at with this situation? Um, is Price sort of underrated in where his usage could be, um, or, or do you share these concerns that some of these guys like Holani and Emmanuel Wilson could limit h- the, the J- Jahdarien Price ceiling outlook for the beginning of the season?

Yeah, there, there is a little bit of concern there.

On, on draft night, head coach Mike McDonald was asked whether Jahdarien Price is immediately RB1 with Zach Charbonnet injured or does he have to earn his way up? McDonald said, "I don't have a standing philosophy.

He'll come in, we'll coach him up.

He'll probably get reps with all the groups at some point, and we'll go from there.

We're not just gonna stick him right there with the ones, but he's gonna have ample opportunity to earn a bunch of carries and a bunch of touches." They, they, they have not been super into like, "All right, we got a bell cow running back." You know, we saw last year with, with Keno- with, uh, Kenneth Walker, who's a much [chuckles] better running back than Zach Charbonnet, and they pretty much split that, that stuff last year.

Now, part of that was managing Kenneth Walker and making sure that he was healthy for the playoffs, which, you know, they ended up [chuckles] being right, uh, there.

Ferguson's tight end 28, but he's got a lot of outs, Greg, to return some value.

So in that same interview that John Harbaugh did on the Dominique Foxworth Show, uh, they asked him something that we've been waiting for the entire off-season for someone to ask John Harbaugh, which is the importance of figuring out a way to make sure that Jackson Dart stays healthy and protects himself.

And Harbaugh said, "Definitely important.

He's aware of it.

You got a fine line.

I remember hearing the same thing about Lamar Jackson, especially after the first season, people saying it's unsustainable the way he plays, that it's never gonna last, that you have to protect him and he can't run as much.

Uh, let's go Brown.

And, you know, we have these some, some ADPs for players, like they're, they're kind of static.

Like, you don't see them fall a lot.

Like, they're just always kind of going in that, in that same round.

With Sadiq, you do see him going like in the 15th round.

Like, he'll, he, he's a guy who will go still past an ADP that I think is, is a really good value.

And as, as far as how I think the season will start out for Sadiq and Cooper, like everything that they, that the Jets have been talking about paints this picture of like this guy is gonna be immediately in, in, in their offensive plans that they have.

I actually think there are times where he can run less.

All right, I got one.

I mean, Zach Taylor I guess is kind of McVay tree-esque, but he's been, like, just like, "Hey, we're chucking it." They, they're like, "Hey, we're-" The passing game is more efficient realization, but then, like, what do you do with that knowledge? And some guys are just like, "We're gonna pass it a bajillion times." But these guys are more like, "We're gonna play balanced, but with the goal of unlocking explosives generally through the passing game." Um, is that, does that fit with kind of your thinking on Johnson?

Yeah.

It, it does.

And, like, trying to get explosives in a lower risk ki- kind of way, um, it's funny, there, there are a lot of coaches who, you know, they'll ask, like, "What is the most important thing?" Like, "What is the most predictive thing of whether you're gonna win a game or not?" And a decent amount of these coaches will say turnovers.

Like, that's the old school answer is you win the turnover battle, uh, and you know, you don't turn it over on, on offense, you're gonna win the game.

And I believe Mike McCarthy actually said this just, like, a week or two ago in a presser.

But Ben Johnson last year on April 1st, 2025, uh, was talking about how the highest passing EPA is actually the most important game-winning stat, not turnovers.

What did you wanna, uh, discuss with his philosophy?

So what, what are your latest thoughts on this, this backfield and this overall kind of skill player depth chart?

Yeah, man, this is just an, an ambiguous offense really.

And, you know, we'll get to the, to the receivers, but on the, on the running back room, uh, let's...

We'll, we'll start on June 2nd.

Offensive coordinator David Blough was asked whether anyone in the running back room has stood out.

He said, "We're really excited about where the room is at now.

Was really pleased to get Kaytron Allen and Robert Henry Jr. in the draft, and kind of continue to add to the room.

[laughs] With cut people.

What are your personal thoughts on it? I mean, obviously, you're buying into Ben Johnson's adulation of Burden here.

big time.

He cannot stop talking about Luther Burden.

He is the first pass catcher that he brings up whenever he talks about the pass catching room there.

He talks about how can we get the ball into Luther Burden's hands, let him do what he does best.

He talks about Luther Burden and Colston Loveland as being a huge part of the offense.

And then he's also talking about when it comes to Caleb Williams, that his number one priority is completion percentage.

Matthew Stafford in the eighth round is a great ADP value factor feeling.

Yeah

he gets injured and Zac Taylor, the Bengals head coach, says, "Oh, he's, he's day to day.

He'll, he'll be fine.

He's day to day." So you know, I, I, I didn't know whether Zac Taylor was trustworthy or not.

Y- you hear a guy say someone's day to day, you imagine that that player is day to day.

So didn't go too hard on, on the waiver wire.

Can you just tell the guests or the fans a little more about it?

Yeah, it's really one big origin coach.

It goes back to 2020.

And this was during the pandemic.

I was living in France at the time.

I had this big money home league that I played in and we had Joe Mixon on our roster and he gets injured.

And Zach Taylor, the Bengals head coach says, oh, he's day to day.

Hmm.

Yeah

... triple wishbone, anything.

[laughs] Uh, Campbell said, "I've mentioned this before." Uh, yeah, "He's not just an outside runner.

He's not just a space runner.

He can create his own space in the middle.

Some of his biggest runs have been gap scheme right down the pipe where he's had patience and found it and guys blocked it up well." Campbell went on to say, "We expect him to have a big year for us.

We're gonna put a lot on his plate in the run and pass game." Dan Campbell, by the way, has a 90% reliability rating on usage and workload Coachspeak, so absolutely expect a workload, a, a bell cow workload for Jahmyr Gibbs this year.

Uh, go ahead

Uh, so let's, let's not bury the lead here, uh, where we had some very fun, very bullish coach speak from Ben Johnson, uh, over the weekend on Luther Burden.

Yeah, Ben Johnson went into Gordon Gekko mode, said, "I'm buying Luther Burden stock right now." Talked about how the way that Burden has approached the off-season has been, uh, electric, saying that he's extremely coachable.

Also said, quote, "When we drafted him, we saw an explosive athlete who was really dangerous with a ball in his hands.

The question was, how can we get it in his hands? The easy things to do were screens or short throws, but I think there's a lot more to his game that we've worked to unlock, and he's been really receptive to how we can get that done.

He ran a route yesterday.

That was the first time he'd ran that route, and he ran it as well as I've been around.

So things like that really get you excited as a coach." End quote.

He's a highly, highly capable player who's capable of even more." By the way

Yeah.

And then he said that Sean Tucker in some of the gap schemes and some different things is an explosive play waiting to happen.

So maybe, maybe we get, like, a little bit more Sean Tucker.

I n- I, I, I know they, you know, Todd Bowles in the past has talked about, uh, we wanna get a little more Sean Tucker going, which they, they have, but, like, a little bit, right? We, we, we get these sometimes, and I think we're gonna end up talking about another player here soon who a coach said, like, "Yeah, we're gonna play him a little bit more," and, you know, people maybe expect that, oh, full-time player.

Well, then not exactly it, right? There's, there's, there's levels to it.

So may- maybe they involve him a little bit more.

But then they asked Zach Robinson whether he has to be careful with Bucky Irving's usage due to his size and his play style, and Robinson said that there's always a sweet spot that you're trying to hit with the number of carries throughout the course of the season.

Something you wanted to discuss.

So should we be getting excited about Dejon Stribling and Kalen Ballage? What went into, uh, these, these selections here, Greg?

Greg?Listen, Get Your Guys Season is not just for fantasy players.

[laughs] It's for Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch as well.

They, they said that they actually would've taken Stribling even higher had they not traded back here in this draft.

But Kyle Shanahan is talking about Stribling as replacing Jauan Jennings in this F position for, for the Niners.

And he said that, you know, first when he was watching the tape, he, he fell in love with him as a route runner, how fast he is, how good his hands are, how physical he played with the ball.

And then he just, like, kind of realized what people on his staff, the scouts, had been telling him that, holy shit, this guy's the best blocker in the draft.

What are we coming to expect from Eli Stowers on the Philadelphia Eagles? Does he, does he have a clear role in year one? Is, is he the, the potential heir apparent, uh, for when the team moves on from Dallas Goddard in 2027? Is he viewed as a potential full-time tight end down the road? Or is he really just a, like, you know, select packages on third downs? What, what did you make from this selection of Eli Stowers in round two?
