Unlike comets from our solar system, 3R Atlas was found to carry unusually high carbon and nitrogen isotopic ratios.

A similar study led by Martin Cordena from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, which was published in last month's Nature, found a similar isotopic ratio for carbon as well as elevated levels of deuterium, a heavy form of hydrogen.

That study used data from NASA's Webb Space Telescope.

Overall, the findings by Arpitum's team indicate that the comet likely formed in the outer regions of an old, low-metallicity star.

By piecing together several years of Hubble observations, the authors found subtle hints of the structure beginning to emerge around 2023, long before it became a clearly defined pattern.

One of the study's authors, Amy Simon from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, says no one's ever seen anything quite like this in Saturn's southern hemisphere before.

The northern hexagon's been there every time scientists looked at it over more than 40 years.

But according to Simon, the southern feature's very different, and it appears to be strengthening, giving scientists the rare opportunity to watch as this giant atmospheric pattern evolves and develops.

She also loved being in nature, spending time with her turtles, and Democratic politics.

She is survived by her two siblings, Linda Bordson of Clinton, and Scott, spouse Kelly Bordson, of Greenbelt, uh, Maryland, and four turtles, Sheldon, Sophie, Benji, and nephew, and nephew Toby.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents.
